Sissoko at FB ? He's cost us goals in in our last three league games in that area of the pitch (West Ham, Bournemouth and ManU). He makes Aurier look like Lahm.

....But we're not playing Serge at RB either!

Re: MS... You neglected the "if you must" part of my statement". Re-consider my broader comment... You just sound triggered by the mere mention of the guy.

I agree with much of that post, especially the ND/GLC in a CM3 bit.

I just don't want Sissoko at RB (any more the CM) in any context. He's a liability there. The only place Sissoko should ever be considered is in that ARM/WRF he started against Bournemouth.

I'm not Aurier's biggest fan, but I don't mind what JM is doing with him right now, it's better than Poch's playing both FB's pushed up, with no midfield, no pressing higher up and slow CB's, and as little bit woo and wee as he is, I still prefer him there to Sissoko.

Poch was a stupid cunt for playing that midfield and so is Mourinho.
I imagine it would have been a bit more stout if there was a 3rd member to help out, no? It almost seems like we should be looking for players (general) and MFers (specifically) that can handle the complete remit of the positions instead of half-a-players and unitaskers. Who knew?

A good DM and that teams a different animal imo.

there’s not many teams in the world with a better front four than ours
Nah mate I know people think it's that simple but it's not. So we go with a midfield three, one certainly has to be an orthodox DCM player. So not Sander Berge or that dick head at Juve. A pure destroyer. Nigel DeJong/ Wanyama/ Busqets. N'dombele and Locelso what happens with Dele he is only really a ten( behind Kane )Son I assume starts. Then there's the cluster fuck at fullback both right and left that needs fixing. Gazzaniga is at best a number two keeper, then one of the Belgians needs to go. I'm going for Toby because lefties are hard to find. Theres a load to fix yet that's why Poch wanted out.

How many times have we been to top clubs where we should have won but continually don't perform? Even when they are in poor form, we don't have the mentality.
The real heart breaker, is that I'm not surprised at all tonight.
Kane isolated. And he needs to have a long hard think about how he contributed to the game overall tonight.

Winks and Sissoko was a poor CM, but let’s be fair we all knew that was a poor CM. And having 4 up top has done a lot of damage as it’s not allowed anyone to control the ball, and then Sissoko has had the added burden of Aurier to deal with, who was awful.

Sissoko and Aurier as a combination is scary, but I blame Aurier more than Sissoko for the pen as he sold him.

Nothing good tonight apart from Alli’s goal.

Jose - what were you thinking ?
I love harry, I really do but I can't help the sneaking feeling that he's resting on his laurels at the moment. Hardly anything from him as a captain today and a mostly disinterested performance. Heartbreaking.

New manager bounce well and truly over. 😕

That was all very 'Poch: End of days' tonight.

....Bit fucked off to feel like we're still just going round in circles with our MF.

I know JM, didn't buy either, but unless we're gonna at least try GLC & Ndombele either side of a DM in CM3 then we're just back to fucking around trying to find a 2 man blend that we just don't have in the squad.

ATM from an EPL-centric viewpoint it feels like we just essentially bought another #10(*) in Ndombele..... And to a lesser extent another in GLC (who at least looks a bit more combative and mobile)...

(*Which makes Ndombele, GLC, Eriksen, Dele & Lamela.... Yet some still bleat about Maddison & Fernandez).

Meanwhile, this false-FB business with Serge feels like JM's trying to be too complicated right out of the blocks... Just play Sissoko at FB if you must, but for crying out loud the one thing I thought we could rely upon was JM building us up from the back. Is the up-side of Serge as false-RW really worth all the fucking about?

KWP, Foyth, Sessengon, GLC, Skipp (and of course Wanyama)... For varying reasons all feel like a waste of space right now. :(

I genuinely think the only reason we are still seeing the usual suspects is due to his 100% record after the first 3 games.

Sissoko I've got time for but he's an impact player/ rotation when injuries mount up, as is Lucas. If Mourinho is a fan of the one attacking full back, one covering for a 3/4 switch up I'd honestly rather see us throw a Sessegnon/ Foyth option in there from time to time. You'll get more out of Sessegnon attack wise than you will Aurier who still irks me with his ability/ inability at most moments of a game.

I think it's time to unleash Lo Celso & Ndombele from the off every game. We know what the others can do but these guys need time to bed in good and proper.

Next game I'd go with Gazzaniga, Aurier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Winks, Ndombele, Son, Lo Celso, Dele, Kane & I'd stick with that until injuries occur, fatigue becomes an issue or until Lloris, Davies etc return.

For me the issue was our CM and it's poor return on assists and goals it creates.

Lloris > Gazzaniga
Aurier > Foyth
Alderweireld > Tanganga
Vertonghen > Sanchez
Davies > Rose
Winks > Dier
Ndombele > Sissoko
Son > Sessegnon
Lo Celso > Lucas
Dele > Lamela
Kane > Parrott

I'm done with Eriksen now, he ain't delivering and he's stifling the development of those committed long term somseriously what's the point. If I was Jose I would keep things simple and just focus on the aboves being like for like until he gets time to evolve it all. Tanganga would be 4th choice, just alternate Toby, Jan and Dav as and when required. Tell Skipp and Parrott they have a chance to make the most of really frail looking squad places as time goes on and finally get things simple again. We can't be having many more times where players like Lucas, Winks, Dier & Sissoko start yet players like Lo Celso and Ndombele get splinters on their 'arris. It ain't September it's nearly Christmas,we need to start trusting these players and we need to start doing so now.

Having him overlap the wide-man who in turn drops in to cover is one thing, but what it did tonight (and vs WH) was it left MS constantly abandoning the CM area and leaving us exposed there instead.

As little as you rate MS defensively, surely you concede it's folly to expect him to do carry the workload of 2 men on that front?

The resurgence of Dele under Jose has been a massive plus, but the issues we saw in his first 3 games remain - a midfield bereft of the right pieces to control that part of the pitch, a centre of defence characterised by a world class but aging duo and question marks over their successors (Sanchez and Foyth) and the loss of a dynamic full-back pairing (Walker and peak Danny) that was never replaced.

It’s what Jose has to work with until we can make changes to the playing personnel, and I hope Levy sees that. As promising as Lo Celso and Sess are, it does beg the question if there are other areas where we really needed to have strengthened first.

Agreed about the Foyth/Sessengon combo(*).... But as for your selection for the weekend; who plays where is still a major part of that quandry and I notice you haven't opted for JF/RS yourself.

(*I actually crave the simplicity of non-attacking FBs until we get get our shit together.... JF + BD.... Hurry back Ben.)

No DM recruited in January is gonna make for a looooong ass season! :(

Goodbye to the fragile peace (thank god). It was artificial as fuck anyway. I’m just gonna say it wasn’t me that broke the disagree bullshit.

You see Borodin55 Borodin55 ? For it to work everyone needs to be on the level - but they’re not. There are too many wankers on here. I’m sure SpiderSpurs SpiderSpurs agrees with me - it goes against the grain to be forced to tickle the tummies of those you dislike - and it’s obvious that we dislike each other (fake olive branches aside). It took about a week before he went back on his empty promises as I knew he would. So let’s forget this bullshit and get back to an honest forum.

Lovely to have Bazali Bazali kissing my ass after every post this evening. xxx

Get right in there Baz. I knows you love it
