Aint nothing dangerous with catching a player with your instep sorry - people need to stop being soft.

His aim was to stop Maddison, not to hurt him, his instinct was to stop him by any means naturally but because he slipped he made sure to stop him, not to hurt him.
I understand your sentiment, and even agree with it to an extent, but the application of the law, as it stands, was correct.

As you've stated above, his instinct was to stop him by any means. He did so with studs showing whilst he was out of control. The intent was there to foul, and he did so in an uncontrolled and dangerous manner. It's a nailed on Red by the laws of the game.

Plus he's a cunt.

Didn't think it was a red personally. Doesn't catch him with his studs, and the slip is what made him catch him high up the shin. I think the desire should be to try and keep the game 11vs11 whenever possible and there wasn't quite enough there to warrant sending him off. Ref should use a bit more common sense, give him a yellow and a stern talking to.

That said, (1) as others have mentioned, Fernandes is a cunt who spends all day getting up in the ref's face. You can hardly blame them for wanting to send him off. (2) Fernandes isn't going for the ball; he's trying to take Maddison out to prevent the counter attack.

Yes he slips but that's what you get sometimes for making a dickhead decision that goes wrong. Only has himself to blame for giving the ref a decision to make. If it happened to, say, Romero, I'd be annoyed but mainly at Romero for being such an idiot.

After his misses (which were both saved well) people were saying he should be behind Mikey Moore, who is himself, behind Son.
When was the last time Son gave anyone a torrid time like that? Sometimes the whole team can benefit from a player giving the opposition cause for concern during a match. Their FB would have been worried to get too far up cause he knew he was in danger of being left for dead.
His finishing is non league standard. Similar to Adama Traore - scares teams with his pace, but no end product.

That said, Ange does seem to like how he stretches the pitch / occupies the full back, I see that. But it's not enough to compensate for the dreadful final ball. Ange will eventually give up on him, like other managers have.

Ironically Son and Johnson both get criticism because they can look poor in 1v1s, and yet they are racking up the goals and assists.

Yep I agree on Werner, he wasn’t that bad but anywhere near the goal he is a disaster, which isn’t great when you’re a striker. I know he’s not a young player but he just looks like he needs finishing coaching. His feet never look in the right place. Even when he looked to be getting on the end of a low cross in the first half before the Man U defender slid in and cleared it, if you look at the position of his feet it looks like he’d Sky it over the bar if the ball had come to him.

Not to go around Onana (who I thought was their best player by a mile) when he had acres of space was bizarre too.

Considering this was his first PL start of the season I thought he had a very good game and linked up well with Udogie.

That step over he played to give the go ahead for Udogie in the second half was worth paying the entrance fee for alone.

His finishing has always been suspect, but his all around general play was as good as what Son offers on the left. Perhaps Odobert would have started ahead of him had he been fit, but for all the criticism he gets from fans who else as good would come to us and sit on the bench?

United spent eighty six million on Anthony, and where was he yesterday? On the bench.

He moved his foot up after he slipped. You shouldn't have to cripple a player to get a red. It wasn't malicious, but the sheer act of raising studs can end a players career. That's why it's a red.
It's a very, very soft red that could just as easily have been a case that a red wasn't enough.

I think Fernades reputation turned a yellow into a red

I think the dirty cunt deserved it.

Obvious to everyone that he raised his foot to try and prevent Madders starting a counter attack.

I am amazed it's only his first red card at United.

Jim Beglin on NBCSN was saying it was an undeserved red, and that the referee should have looked at the pitch side monitor. You didn't need a pitch side monitor to see that it was a cynical challenge, and one that could have been a lot worse had that been Madders standing leg.

I don't think it was a red either, but seeing how it used to be nigh impossible to get any type of decision at Old Trafford I have no sympathy for the assholes.

He missed his usual 1v1 in this match, but had no problem with the first time finish

And this first time finish

I get the Traore comparison. They don't score enough, but i could see 1 or 2 setting Werner off on a run. I can't see Traore getting 1 or 2.

Have to say the game is being destroyed with these ridiculous rules. These sendings off are becoming a joke . Thank fuck I’ve witnessed the game when common sense still existed

Is it?

De Ligt, Martinez, Dalot, Mazraoui is a quality back 4. Shielded by Ugarte, a very solid defensive mid. We'll struggle to score against this back 5, especially without our best attacker.

Mainoo is a prodigy. Bruno is world class on his day. Zirkzee a very good all round false 9. Garnacho a brilliant prospect who always bags G/A and Rashford can hurt anyone on the counter.
Anyone thinking we don't struggle against this United team today is either delusional or only watches MOTD highlights.
Call me delusional then!!

Far from a joke, I think they are trying to cut out the snide little petulant cunts like this from the game!

Diving, rolling around, play-acting, time-wasting and petulant, snidey, spiteful little kick outs at opposition shins, THAT'S what needs to be cut out from the game!
