Nah. Just nah.

Playing against fresh legs with a game plan and at least a point to defend is different to playing against tired legs that have totally lost their heads.

If you can't see that, a) you must only watch occasional highlights and b) probably never played a single 11 a-side 90 minute game in your life
I have played enough to know that it is nothing short of delusional to think that scoring a goal at 4-0 up is easier than scoring a goal at 0-0. Too much console gaming can create that impression (championship manager, football manager etc must make it seem like after 2-0 it just gets easier to score more)

I was expecting Bergvall to start but today I have a feeling Ange might protect him until the second half because Anfield will be demanding a red card for breathing if he starts.

I think he will start with Tel on the wing.

TAA is out, so i think Tel could tear them a new ass if played wide.

I think he will start on the bench tonight.

Son Richie Kulu will be the front 3.

Tel would be best on the left and Ange won't drop Son.

I just hope Tel doesn't have his minutes stifled by Son. My concern is Son is crap as a CF so Ange can't move him there, and whilst CF might suit Tel long term as his position, I think he will struggle in that role now, especially in a game against top CBs like Van Dijk.

And Tel playing on the RW wasted one of his best attributes which is coming on to his right and shooting.

So what will Ange do?

Ange could "rest" Son if he wanted to.

But the biggest game for un in a while could suggest otherwise.

Tel on the right, Son, left and Richy up front?

I really don't understand why some in the media - or some on here for that matter - are clinging to this "the player has the final option" thing.

Every footballer on earth, even if they had some sort of contract for life, has "the final option". They could simply refuse to play, or play like a complete cunt, and they would be sold or somehow got rid off as soon as humanly possible.

It's beyond desperate.

And if you had watched games he has played in this season, you would have seen someone who at times looked like he was picked out from the crowd to play.

Top 3 forward? You absolutely would not have typed that had he not signed for us.

He came, in the end, because moves elsewhere didn't materialize. No point trying to delude ourselves into anything different. His final choice was to either come here and play games, or stay at Bayern and warm the bench, if he's lucky.
Moves elsewhere didn't materialize because he didn't want them to.

I can just about grasp the idea of some complete bellend from Peterborough United clutching at the "fuck-me-they've-asked-me-to-be-on-the-radio-I'd-better-say-something-controversial-in-my 3-minutes-of-fame" straw, but a supposed Spurs fan?

Here's the thing. It's OK to be a little bit happy about something every now and then.

If not, why on earth would you bother?

Hmm. I honestly would rest Son, he barely makes any impact at all nowadays.

But he won't drop his captain, and that is probably the wrong move.

I'd look to integrate Tel in Son's position as soon as possible.

I don't see the value in playing Tel as a striker, with Son on the left. This is only what I have heard from analysts who have said Tel isn't ready to play striker in the PL and will need to play wide left. If he can play striker, fantastic but many seem to say that's his longer term position, but not right now. Asking him to get the better of Van Dijk at 19 is really asking so much.

I feel if we play wide right, we are setting Tel up to fail, and doing that just to indulge our past it captain who needs to be faded out ASAP.

Also let's remember Tel is good in the air, him coming in from the left to attack Kulu's crosses is a really good thing, that we do not have with Son playing there.

As I say, big decisions for Ange and he needs to make the right ones.

I'm 55* and I've already come up with

He was a teenage winger and the Park Lane wished him well
C'est la vie said the Shelf Side, it goes to show you never can Tel

* going on 105 judging by my song choice
He is a superfast Frenchman
now he plays in our lilywhite

He'll bang it in the corner
scoring for us left and right

And dont think you can stop him
He'll terrorise you as well

C'est la vie say the yiddos
Cos only we've got Matys Tel

Swear that Spurs Song sheet's a gooner plant :roflmao:

Go, Tel embarass Van Dyke
Leave him behind with his stupid hair
Go Tel him he's a wanker
And then just score a goal!

(Tune: Go, tell it on the mountain. Obvs)

For the majority of this season our wingers have been providing the bare minimum at best anyway, so I'm not worried about him finding his footing. If he's fit he should start.

That’s Son’s side though,

Can’t see him dropping Son

True.

I just think that Tel has to start, we absolutely have to give Scouse a game tonight.

Scouse don't know Tel, have TAA out and we should be able to dominate that side if JD is behind him?
Be interesting to see if he starts or comes off the bench.

He needs to start, with no TAA playing he should be able to own that wing tonight.

I’ll hold my hand up and say I knew nothing about Tel before last week. I have no idea what, if any, impact he will have with us. His stats seem promising but, again, until we see him in the shirt, on the pitch, we won’t know how he will fit in to the team and our style of play. For now, we needed new blood, he is our player, and will have my full support. There is still much to play for this season, starting with the second leg against Liverpool. COYS

Couldn’t agree more : I’d never heard of the kid four days ago .

But if and when he comes on to score a hat-trick in an eight minute cameo this evening; then he’s got a future in the game.

I’m hoping it happens!
