Player Mathys Tel

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Yeah we shouldn’t be paying £60m for players that have no track record at a high level.

If Tel were £10m like Bergvall then that’s fine but this squad needs experienced quality players to improve, not more raw young players. We have enough of those already.

If Tel doesn’t show more in these last few weeks then it makes no sense to buy him. Another loan maybe.

We will probably never sign a player as good as Bergvall for 10m again in our lifetimes.

Tel has champions league and Bundesliga goals under his belt already at 19. We can negotiate down a bit but it’s never going down to 10m for a player like that.

Some very nice goals, but this was vs Slovakia U21. Not seen much at all in the PL games and that MOTD clip of him getting overtaken by Bentancur raises an awful lot of questions about desire and mentality.

Is Tel much of an upgrade on Moore or Odobert as a LW?? He's certainly not better than Son. Don't see a reason to sign him for that role.

He has proven he can't play CF in our system and is probablly now behind Scarlett for game time there.

The only place he could fit potentially is RW. Needs to play there and light the world up to fork out the £50m in my view.

We signed dele for £5m who was easily a better more effective player. Bergval has done well but let’s see before getting too excited

excellent taken goals. hopefully good confidence boost for him going into important section of the season.
Ben Davies scored too... as did Scarlett for England Yoot...

Romero and Bentancur both played 90 minutes...
Not to mention a fair few others getting minutes for their Countries...

It SHOULD bode well for them all when they return... but when did our players playing well during the International break ever seem to benefit US at Domestic level??

We've signed Bergvall, Sarr, Udogie, Vuskovic for the 10-12m range and all will likely be at a minimum 35m+ players ultimately.

The value is there if you are willing to take punts on young talents from foreign leagues. Clearly that has been a major strategy at Spurs for the last few years. So I disagree that we won't find another Bergvall.

That said, when buying English or from a top club (Bayern in Tel's case) you will pay a premium.

The closest one I can think of right now is Bale from Soton, but even that was a lot more than the fee for Bergvall. Would have to be a special situation with a contract expiring so the fee is reduced or minimal. I'd say it will happen again in our lifetimes, but prob such a nice setup will not come about for a few more years, at least.

One nice thing is that showing evidence of ability to develop youth a la Dortmund could help us increase our recruitment in this way.
