The closest one I can think of right now is Bale from Soton, but even that was a lot more than the fee for Bergvall. Would have to be a special situation with a contract expiring so the fee is reduced or minimal. I'd say it will happen again in our lifetimes, but prob such a nice setup will not come about for a few more years, at least.

One nice thing is that showing evidence of ability to develop youth a la Dortmund could help us increase our recruitment in this way.
The young lads wouldn't have got much off a look in only for injuries.

Slightly amusing that he's wearing a Fulham shirt right after they beat us

But who really cares about this shit ?
Djed Spence lol. He wasn't having people congratulating Sessegnon. It seemed to annoy the fuck out of him. And he also was having a pop at a player in a game he was mostly rested for. Came on late and was telling them wait and see next time we play. Perhaps we need to actually rethink the so called 'Ange rules' that all the cultist were so into early on. No dickheads seems to have become a load of meek choir boys. We need a few toughs. And players that don't like losing and take it personally

Bergvall, Spence and Gray are certainly the start of a core group not overly concerned with being "nice". If we can just build and develop around those three, we'll be well competitive going forward.

We've signed Bergvall, Sarr, Udogie, Vuskovic for the 10-12m range and all will likely be at a minimum 35m+ players ultimately.

The value is there if you are willing to take punts on young talents from foreign leagues. Clearly that has been a major strategy at Spurs for the last few years. So I disagree that we won't find another Bergvall.

That said, when buying English or from a top club (Bayern in Tel's case) you will pay a premium.

So far Bergvall looks a level on his own in that group. We haven’t seen Vuskovic yet

Looked crap for Bayern this season whenever he got some game time and has looked crap for us. At absolute best he's one for the future, and that's really not what we desperately needed.

Welp thought he could be real live wire during the run in but it hasn't worked and it's made worse by the fact we've spunked a 10m loan fee on him but in brighter news we've tanked his overall value and Bayern won't be getting that 40/50 for him that they wanted :mourhandlaugh:

Bayern knows he hasn't developed which is why they were keen to offload him.

Agree we can't afford to pay €55m and hope he comes good. We need more of a sure thing. Unless you can get him back for a 2nd season loan, I wouldn't pay the fee to make it permanent.
