Player Mathys Tel

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I mean, he really is.

There weren’t many 19 year olds who did more than him in the PL last year

I think most football best young player lists would have him in the top 20 in world football for 21 and under.

A friend of a friend manages a top level side. He said he would take him. Just can’t afford him!

But a good technical player. France produces some good youngsters.

The Cochrane fella has been specifically mentioned in how he has improved Wissa and Eze to the levels they're at now. From a standing start, comparing them at the same stage of their careers, I reckon Tel has more about him than Wissa, and could be excellent, there's no point really considering last year, he was brought in as we really needed numbers, I thought he did well mostly but ordinarily you'd never expect a fresh 19 year old to be thrown in as much as he was. I'm excited to see what the new coaches can do with the youth we've brought in and will be bringing in.
Don’t think Cochrane worked much with Eze at club level…..Mbeumo perhaps.

Do we actually believe this is a good deal for Tel?

I could go either way. I do believe he does have some long term potential, and Ange put him in a position to fail most of the time, but £40m total on this kid (loan fee plus permanent) seems like way too much given what he’s shown. He was generally not good in Spurs colours.

I don't.

But, at the same time, everyone on the internet seems to be frothing at the flaps for him in January and said the club wouldn't get it done when United were after him, and Ange made everyone look shit this calendar year, so there's room for doubt in my assessment

Personally don’t mind it but I see why some are apprehensive about him.

He is a French under 21 international he's 20 years old. He wasn't played in his actual best position and arrived in a real crisis under one of the oddest coaches in world football. 35m euro in today's over inflated market...meh. It's a decent risk I've got a funny feeling he might be one that just clicks and were sat here grining at each other like idiots.

L'equipe. 3/10
He is shit Dickie

Many underestimating him.

He is young and last season he was completely misused. We played him in PL mainly in the B team with no regard for tactics or discipline.

Season before he was scoring or assisting every 87 minutes. Some players need better structure & support to get the best of them. I believe under Frank he has a better chance to succeed than with Ange
