Manager Mauricio Pochettino

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Eight league games in and it looks totally average points-wise. I like that we attack with more urgency, but so far it's not that different from when Sherwood unleashed the players after AVB's reign. Our old problems are still there; silly mistakes, not enough goals scored, choking under pressure in the big games etc. For once I think the January window could be interesting. Our squad still seems bloated and unbalanced.

I think people are criticizing us a bit too much recently ... it's still very early in the season.
Imo, the actual serious criticism starts come late November or December.

Anyway, we're doing fine.
If you told me before the season that we could get 4 points from 3 games which were vs. ArseAnal away, vs. the 3rd place team (be it the Southampton atm - who certainly are not an easy pushover), and vs. City away ... then I certainly would've gladly accepted that.

If we want to be picky it should at least be after these next 4 PL games.
They are quite winnable, and we should be getting close to max points. So yeah, until then, let's just try to hold our knees from moving, for a bit more longer.

Onwards and upwards. :coys:

Sunderland away and WBA at home winnable?

Also that Liverpool result is looking worse and worse by the week.

Weren't we saying the 'system' takes time to implement and that it would be nice to give managers some time first? I'm enjoying watching Tottenham at the moment and that's what is important to me after the last few seasons.

Me to, was never a 4-1 the ref and aguero distorted the game. I though we were as good as them for most of it and I could not say that against city last year, the football was much better than Sherwood/avb dross but performances don't equal results that may take time.

The jan window may also be key, need to remove some deadwood.

So Aguero and the ref never distorted the game under Sherwood then? I must have imagined the the incorrectly awarded pen and red card that was rescinded and a stunning performance from Aguero prior to his injury?

New manager, we had the world cup so players off on international duty got back a couple of weeks before the season started and we have had 2 international breaks since the season started. All this i feel is making it harder and slower for Poch to work with the players and getting his way of playing across. Not saying this is the only reason but it cant help for a new manager at a club

The man needs a couple of transfer windows to make the squad his own. Ship out the unwanted players and evaluate which youth players look good etc.

He has had one slightly disrupted pre-season and a team full of players that are not "his". We are doing ok, still in all cups. Not the greatest in the league but a few teams are struggling.

Yeh but our performance yesterday deserved maybe a draw at least a tight defeat, I would not have said we were worth a draw last season against city.

like AVB the current gaffer is a young'un so will need time and full backing from our little dictator

there's afew bad apples in this squad and they need fucked off asap, regardless of talent

levy is all about the bottom line with player mentalities and team work ethic nowhere in sight

unless we back a manager over the players we'll never have a proper team again who live and die together

You've got to be slightly concerned when you go up against Pardew and he comes out of the game having won the tactical battle.

Newcastle were dog shit in the first half but after the break Pardew made 2 subs, obviously got his message across to his players and expolited our weaknesses.

The majority of the players looked like they'd given up when we went 2-1 down and they certainly didn't look like they were playing for their places or the manager.

koeman seems to be doing ok

the lack of shots is a massive worry ,also same tactics week in and out

Seem to remember Southampton fans accusing Poch of having no Plan B last season, so not entirely surprised by what I've seen so far.

Having said that though that if you're a new manager trying to get your ideas across it probably wont help changing systems during the first 10-15 games, although you do need a degree of flexibility to try and get the best out of your squad.

Slightly baffled by the fact that Poch is willing to play 2 up top in Europa but never really goes for it at home in the league, especially against beatable opposition. Would loved to have seen Kane / Soldado up front today...
