This is the best Tottenham team I've watched in 45yrs and it's been built, nurtured and developed by Poch. Right about now he walks on water for me, I can spend time focussing on the odd game hear and there to makes criticisms of him but why would I want to do that? It's feels such a waste of effort and for what purpose would it serve?
As for the players I will love them and support them so long as they play for the club and want to play for the club.
As for our Fullbacks, Davies isn't as good as Rose but has played brilliantly for over a season without rotation, if I were the manager I'd pick him over Rose purely because he wants to be here and Rose doesn't. As for our right backs, Trippier isn't nor has ever been at the level required. In some games, last handful he's turned up and I can't fault his attitude but he's been poor both with and without the ball. Prior to the last few games I'd question his mentality too, never convinced he wants to show for the ball by not making the angles to receive it off a team mate, hiding behind an oppo player, also twice not busting a gut to prevent, put off, challenge or foul the oppo as they had a free run on goal (and scored from both opportunities) is totally inexcusable in my book. I've been consistent from the day we first played him (when we rotated him with Walker), I think he's shit and have always said so (on the handful of games he's played well, to which I guess has been about 5, I will always acknowledge this for some balance) but he's shit and IMO our weakest link in the squad. IMO Kyle Walker-Peters is more technically proficient than Tripps, however I acknowledge he might not yet have the stamina to play at PL level yet(??). But I would sell Tripps now, he will be going to Russia and his stoke will be artificially inflated because of it, I'd cash in and get another in now.
I think Aurier will be fine and close to what Walker has given us prior to him leaving next year, not convinced he as the pace as some seem to think he has. He has to work on staying on his feet and getting the balance right of when to engage and when to drop off, this isn't a biggie for me and can easily be taught. And yes, Walker was and still is the best RB in the Prem buy quite some margin.
If Rose leaves we need a new LB, one that has pace and a high technical proficiency on the ball would be wonderful, particularly a player that can take on the oppo on the outside (Davies can't go on the outside, however what has impressed me with him is his work on the inside).
The best I've ever seen us play has been with both Rose and Walker on their respective games and in the team together, we have to aim to have our FB pairing on these levels to give us our balance, width and provide a variety and ability to get behind the oppo more than we have done with Tripps and Davies this year.
