Manager Mauricio Pochettino

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Thought they may go for one of the International Managers, perhaps someone that has won the World Cup (they can wait for WC to finish) rather than a Manager that has not won a trophey.

I'm Italian but I lived in Alicante in 2003 so I like to read the Spanish press to understand that now the Spanish teams are in charge.

To answer you correctly I have to think: I did not expect Zidane's movement but Zinedine has always been very thoughtful in the choices. I hope Pochettino understands the risk of going to the RM. Of course it is difficult to say no, however: 1) must end the Spurs medium-term project with the new stadium to be inaugurated. 2) if Zidane goes away, anarchy will reign in the team. Cristiano is not in the photo of the RM subscriptions campaign. I predict a powder magazine.
Aah, yes, I remember now, I think I asked you before! Mi scussi, my memory is shit!

As for the rest, (1) I agree with, (2) I'm not so sure. I think Pérez runs a tight ship, its a big blow, but I imagine they have a contingency plan. The thing about Ron is curious tho, a mate was saying exactly the same thing a couple of hours ago. All things considered I bet Bale stays now.

Not that I believe the rumors one bit, but does anyone know how much managers their release clause generally could be?
(If there is even such a thing for managers)

I know Laurent Blanc had a clause in his PSG contract that made him earn 22 million because he was sacked but that's not really the same thing, is it?

No pasa nada :roflmao:

The RM right now is fire: those who touch it will burn. Bale wants to play. Ronaldo parte. All players have a full stomach. Low would be a good profile but he will only be released in June and he has not been following club teams for years.

No that's not the same as a release clause for a player. It is more that the club pays the manager the remainder of his salary earned until the end of his contract even if he no longer works for them. Common among the Italian clubs (Sarri just got fired by Napoli. But he is still getting paid)

There is no way Poch would cut us loose now, especially after signing a new contract. I’m absolutely certain he cares more about his reputation than money and it’s always surprising to read people on here say that money is everything - it isn’t if you have enough, and he has enough.

Some shallow folk on here sadly.

We're all speculating of course but at the least Levy could demand that Madrid pay out the contracts of those concerned.

We know that Pochettino is fiecely loyal to his team, the recent contract renewal underlined that.

To buy out MP's new deal would be about £50 million. Lets imagine that Jésus, Miguel and Toni are on around £2 million a year each, give or take. Thats a further £30 million, in total, €90 million at the current rate. That's an insane sum of money for a Madrid who will be flexing its muscles to buy the star of the next World Cup, whoever that may be (our lads excluded of course), as they see as their prerogative every tournament (and especially if Ron leaves).

They're rich obviously, but there are limits, they don't have a Gulf slave state backing them. Remember that Pérez said recently they couldn't afford Harry. They'll need all their dosh for Salah or whoever their eyes fall on in Russia, the fan base wouldn't take kindly to spunking half their budget on a management team who (in their eyes) are unproven and won nothing at the expense of a shiny new superstar, like I say, even more so if Ron is antsy about leaving.

Fuck it, thats the narrative I'm going to run with. Fill your boots gambler types, lay Pochettino to Madrid

I’ve recently read his book and there is no way he signs a new contract with us and then walks out on us a few weeks later.

He has a press conference in Spain tomorrow apparently promoting the book. He needs to make his possition clear when he is inevitably asked about it.

No it isn’t, I read somewhere the hiring club should pay the remaining contract ie annual salary of the manager times by number of contract years left
