Our club has the potential to be great. It is unrealised potential.

If it were ever to be realised, they’d go through the following chain:

1: you still have not won anything.
2: you only won one Carabao Cup/UEFA cup, no one cares about that.
3: you still haven’t won a League/Champion’s League… a couple of cups ain’t all that.
4: you’ve only won the League/Champions League once… (if the latter… you weren’t even Champions when you won it)…
5: you only won because Liverpool/Woolwich/Man Utd/City were crap that year
6: you only won because Bayern/Inter/Milan/Juventus/Real Madrid/Barcelona had off years…

And so on.

Was just in the car and listened to Talkshite. Some Scottish “comedian” on it think his name was Jim Burke?? but not sure. He was asked about Scotland’s chances against Croatia later. After dismissing them rapidly, he explained why. Apparently it’s because of one win in 14 only and because, although they should have beaten Poland, “They Spurs’d it.”
Not once, but twice he used this term to explain poor Scottish results.

Fuck me, is this what we’ve really become now? I can understand it from a few PL clubs fans but throwing away a result casually being referred to as ‘Spurs’d it’ by Scotland football fans, where will it end. Not having a dig at Scotland fans just amazed that we’ve become part of the terminology among Scottish football. Where will it end? I’ll be keeping an eye on any thrown matches in Spain and Italy now.

It will end when we win some trophies and stop losing big matches in the most stupid ways. 10 times we’ve lost after being 2-0 up in the PL. Conceded a penalty in the first minute of a CL final. Lost 8 FA Cup semis in a row. Lost to Zagreb when 2-0 up when their manager was in prison. 1 win at Chelsea in 30 years.

These things only happen to Tottenham. When they stop happening people will stop laughing at us. Chiellini summed it up, “it’s the history of Tottenham”.

I fully understand that….I’ve supported Spurs long enough to know our results history and trust me, I’m as pissed off as anyone by it in recent years.

But becoming a banter club at an international level now as if we were in a minority of one is pushing it. Even for me.

I’m afraid you can’t build the best stadium in Europe, repeatedly embarrass yourself in it and expect to be taken seriously. We didn’t build that stadium so we could lose matches there to West fucking Ham.

...and that's the problem! Why should you be ashamed or apologetic for supporting a club, whose results are something you can't directly control?? You SUPPORT the club no matter what, that's a source of PRIDE!

If someone with a London accent told me they support Liverpool or Man City, I'd expect a "yeah, I know..." because you know their sole reason for supporting them is to 'guarantee' success...

I'd be more apologetic for THAT than to declare my support for a team that doesn't just turn up, tip their cash out all over the table and repeatedly win! That's the EASY bit!

I googled her and she’s Tinie Tempah’s wife apparently, not just some random person. Guess that’s how she managed to get the story into the papers. Lots of women get felt up on the underground from what I’ve heard, there’s some weirdos about. But this does seem like a concerning scenario too.

The carriages never really are that packed though. I get on at Tottenham Hale (and did that day). People get on at Seven Sisters obviously but it’s hardly rush hour. People aren’t squeezed packed in like sardines. So anything like that would easily be visible to other people on board. But like you say, where were others challenging it as it would have been seen given the account.

It's why I always chuckle when I saw random people in Leicester kits for about a year, before reality kicked in, and they went back to their PSG/Real Madrid kits...

Glory hunting is relatively easy...
You just look at the team at the top of the league, and go with them.

What's difficult, is support a club who constantly fall at the final hurdle, repeatedly let you down, but occasionally, just occasionally, bring you joys beyond your wildest dreams!
