MENTAL FORTITUDE

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Where was all this in autumn, when we were battering Dortmund, Madrid and Liverpool? Did we need Roy Keane then?
Or in winter when we started on our longest unbeaten league run? Didn’t hear anyone screaming for Tony Adams.

But we go out of the CL against a team who’ve been in 3 of the last 4 finals, lose a semi against a bigger and better side and this is no longer good enough? Is it the quadruple or nothing nowadays?
No average Spurs fan was expecting to win the CL or the PL this season but a cup may be and about time.
Losing against Juve after being ahead in the tie and 30mins to go was not expected. To beat manu in the FA cup semi or even a fighting spirit was expected.
You are implying we will never win a cup because we are bound to lose against a bigger and better side, WRONG. We beat manu 2-0 in the home match, was that a fluke?!

The issue now of every Spurs fan and THFC is top 4. The management and players get their salaries in full. We had 10 points gap, get CL place and we had a good season otherwise unthinkable and financial consequences but more importantly taking the club on the pitch back to many many years and the project collapse and philosophy didn't work and out of the window.

Are you pleased with the team displays in the last 5 weeks?

Oh to have a Steve P or Graham Roberts now

That’s what a few of us were saying earlier in the season

We’ve got the manager
We’re getting the stadium
We have the team although improvements/additions needed

What we’ve lacked is a leader on the pitch

I love Harry, Hugo, Dier etc but they’re not captains sadly

Toby?

It probably wasn’t but it feels like it was more fun supporting Tottenham when we were shit.

People have been saying all season how we are no longer pushovers, how our game now has bite. Now look. Was it just an illusion? I prefer to think not.
Personally for me Joe it was the early to mid eighties
Cavalier football , Hoddle , Ardilles and a little self gratification with silverwsre . Everybody' else's second team . It always look like we could challenge but sometimes win . The ethos today may be very sensible if not rather pragmatic but the rollercoaster was much more fun

No Spurs fan can be pleased with the displays of the last week but I think we will win our last two games and qualify comfortably

What I am pleased with is some of the football we’ve played, finishing comfortably top of the group of death, humping the Dippers 4-1 and ManUre 2-0 and being desperately unlucky against Juve

I for one was extremely proud of our comeback in Turin
A great performance so the Melters can Fuck Right Off

Have you only been supporting the club for the last 2 seasons and are pissed off you didn't plump for City?

in comparison with his predecessors over the last 25 years - he pretty much is beyond reproach.

now its all about the whiny "why aren't we winning everything?" spoiled brats that think we should simply morph into Bracelona or any oligarch/sheikh driven money pit of a club

No, I saw my first game at the lane in 1987 when I was six years old, Spurs vs Oxford United.

I think we’ve struggled for the past few weeks, yes. But I don’t believe it’s a lack of winning mentality. I just think it’s because it happens. Almost every team goes through bad runs of form.

It was only a few weeks ago that people were talking about City throwing it away because they lost and drew a couple of games. A small rocky patch for the record breaking Man City and suddenly all was imploding. Everyone has bad patches.

I don’t think us beating Utd 2-0 was a fluke, but I do believe we punched above our weight in that match. I also think the result could have easily been a defeat if one or two small things had gone a different way. Just like the semi. Close games against a very good team. Not worth losing our shit over.

I’m not implying we won’t win a cup, we are very capable of beating anyone on our day.

Or as the big man says, 'this is football, no'

If your not happy with what we have now, I'd really pack it in and stick to FIFA, I really can't see things getting much better.
I said to Honest John Honest John last season that I thought we’d peaked, and received some hilarious old guff about not being a proper fan for my trouble.

I coped then and I’ll cope now. :pochlol:

We only play well when the other side has something to exploit. When they turn up we fold and don't adapt. The style of giving up is as bad as the result.
City have a stated aim of a trophy per season on average. Ours is more like one or two per decade and that's fair enough.

I can't see another sheikh being interested in a premier league team. Being dwarfed in finances by the Manchester teams leaves us really battling for third place and a cup once or twice a decade. So youre probably right, we should've celebrated second a bit more than we did

That’s just not true though. We are capable of battering Stoke 4-1 and Liverpool 4-1. On the flip side we are also capable of losing to the same sides.

Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose. This isn’t FM. You can’t rage quit and load up your save game. If we’d beaten Juventus and ManU, there some that would still complain because we lost to West Brom.
