More attractive and daring football? Certainly. Getting better results? I disagree. Certainly not someone like Ange.seeing the players at his disposal I believe a different manager could have had even those players playing better.
Turning Dier, Dele, and Rose into Team of the Season type performers, for starters. What was Poch's miracle, getting second with the best starting XI in the country?
Paul Mitchell had more to do with that than Poch did. He had a fucking incredible team on his hands, and the more he got involved in our transfers the more it deteriorated. He got the best out of Rose and Dembele, but it took fucking Mourinho to unlock Kane and Son, and it took Pep to turn Walker into a world class player.More attractive and daring football? Certainly. Conte was hired to immediately bring trophies to a squad not capable of that. That contradiction resolved itself the only way it ever could have.
Turning Dier, Dele, and Rose into Team of the Season type performers, for starters.
What I mean by Poch miracle is that he turned an also-ran in the Top Four race into a genuine, durable title contender containing several elite transfer value assets with a negative net spend.
Never happened before and will never happen again, that was a 1 of 1 in Premier League history.
Paul Mitchell bought neither Rose nor Dembele. Nor Eriksen whose career peaked under Poch.Paul Mitchell had more to do with that than Poch did. He gets the respect that he deserves, a good but clearly not elite coach. Give an elite manager that team and they get you 2-3 trophies, at least.Paul Mitchell bought neither Rose nor Dembele. Nor Eriksen whose career peaked under Poch.
I mean get the fuck outta here just on a general level with any disrespect for the coaching performance of Poch's first 3-4 years here.
It is true that his transfer business has been confused and self-defeating everywhere he's been. Someone said it in the other match thread I think, he's got a bad habit of over-thinking things. But that's all beside the point.
An elite manager would have been wanting to add to that team immediately. He gets the respect that he deserves, a good but clearly not elite coach. Give an elite manager that team and they get you 2-3 trophies, at least.
The club hasn't been failed by the managers, Poch just was never that good, and I doubt we expected an elite manager when we hired him from Southampton. He got Levy what he wanted, consistent CL football. Mourinho was failed by the club, but is also just not that good anymore, and plays the wrong kind of football. Conte did fail the club by having a meltdown, but that's what he does at every club.An elite manager would have been wanting to add to that team immediately.
This synthetic drumbeat that the club has been failed by its managers rather than the other way around is so utterly transparent.

Yeah it was Sheffield United for Conte and Zagreb for Jose, the moment where the hope that they were transplanting some sort of "winning DNA" into the squad was no longer sustainable.Losing to Sheff united the manner in which we did was an embarrassment

Both rotten, insipid performances from top to bottom, no one involved free of blame.
But five years going by before admitting that the problem was the squad is Levy's failure and Levy's failure alone.
And the squad is still nowhere near where it will need to be for Ange to justify the club's pricing and rhetoric.
We are back in a situation where we can build something for the future though, and that is a blessing.
In fits and starts since Paratici arrived, we have been.we have CLEARLY been rebuilding the squad for 2.5-3 seasons now and are on a different trajectory to that when we hired Conte.

Bournemouth got away with SO MUCH. That's a straight red any day of the week. Just one of several.
