Why!

It's not - neither stupid nor a current session. It was posted on 28th Jan.
perhaps a change of coach is in order to save Mickeys hamstringsWe 100% need to be looking at a LCB in the summer, with Romero probably off too.
VDV simply can't be relied upon and availability is so important, even more so than talent. I'd rather have a solid defender playing every week than a top class one who misses 5 months every season.

And the Athletic put out a story saying VDV was pushing himself to play the Leicester game before Elfsborg. He had trained for a full week before Elfsborg. That's before we even take into account the work he'd put in with the sports science team to be ready to return to training.Seriously? 28th Jan it was posted, 2days before his 45minutes against Elfsborg, which clearly aggravated his present condition.

In your head is there a world where a player who isn't 100% after a repeat hamstring is in full training with the squad?
Of course, but, nuance tells you this was a moment Mickey should have been told not to sprint from standing and change body position quickly (sliding dive block here, shown in video evidence). Certainly Mason high fiving him for doing it, suggests the utter opposite was true.
If he was passed fit to play 45 minutes against Elfsborg (which he undeniably was) then surely he needed to be tested for full match fitness ahead of the game. If that had been his first touch of the ball in the match I can only begin to imagine the outcry that would have followed. If the 45 minutes did aggrevate his present condition (which has never, to my knowledge, been confirmed) then it was surely overall match readiness that was the problem rather than that one movement in traing and questions should be asked of the medical staff who passed him fit in that case. But we will never know.Seriously? 28th Jan it was posted, 2days before his 45minutes against Elfsborg, which clearly aggravated his present condition.
I think it should be seen as an emergency measure rather than a fixture of the system.Eh?
We have the most rapid CB in the fucking world. How have you reached the conclusion that it’s best not to put him in a system that uses his pace?
I think it should be seen as an emergency measure rather than a fixture of the system.
In calling upon it so frequently, and as a key part of the system, you're putting more physical pressure on the player, which seems to lead to more frequent injury, and also with no like for like back up, putting yourself in a difficult position for the periods of time that he's unavailable.
Agree to disagree. Said from the outset that watching him do that made me wince.Nuance means you have almost all the information available and you can assess that information to judge the subtle differences.
You are watching a 60 second clip and making wild assumptions

They hardly attacked us, so he didn’t need to sprint any high level amount and it strongly suggests he was never really right (might be due to Mickey saying he was fine).
The change in medical team recently red flags that internally huge concerns are being analysed.
Fresh opinions are being sought out, fresh methods, whether we are offering the £ to get world class candidates with elite proven track records in high intensity recovery, time will tell.
Seems more basic logic to build a system that doesn't throw all of your eggs in one very unsustainable basket to me...You build systems around the strengths of your players and recruit players that compliment and add to the system.
It’s just very basic logic.
Not sure, if true it wreaks of Levy tightness, what elite world wide sports brand make planned additions part way through a season?Medical team changes started in the summer. Those recent job adverts were planned additions
Literally Pep bought and used Walker at City for years as his sprint safety valve. The greatest coach of all time basically relying on someone’s sprinting power as a key part of his system. You build systems around the strengths of your players and recruit players that compliment and add to the system.

Surely you try and get the best possible candidate regardless of timing? If you have to wait so be it.Not sure, if true it wreaks of Levy tightness, what elite world wide sports brand make planned additions part way through a season?
Surely a support team, for a squad you pay hundreds of millions for and to, must be in place from the start of closed season (or near as possible, so they familiarise themselves to the players baselines, to their historical loads, their personalities etc). Surely the highest end candidates are in post during a season also. Maybe the posts were to start from this closed season, but again, why not for this one we’re in, from last summer (makes no sense).
