Player Micky van de Ven

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Udogie just knew that was hitting the net. Arms up with 5 secs to go.
He had his hands on his head rather than in the air.
Best I can find is this

LB? Not for me... He's super fast but he does have a tendency to have a loose touch. Even in yesterday's game there was a moment where he took too many touches when he should've played to Udogie and we were suddenly getting countered.

He's prob the best LCB in the world atm. Why would we move him to LB?
Best in the world ?
Really ?
He doesn't start there for Netherlands. He's not even the best in North London, let alone the world

Great performance from him yesterday (which came just few days after being at least partially at fault for the goal conceded in the Derby), but massive over-statement of his standing at the moment

You're far too kind. Why not just say he's crap and you could do much better? We all know it's true.

I don't think its a good idea to have him move to Left Back, its much more important defensively to have your best players in the middle. His aerial ability would be wasted on the flanks.
He is not as good as Romero with his distribution but as he tends to just give the ball to Romero thats fine. VDV should give himself the freedom that if we do win the ball on the edge of our box and we have the opportunity to break that he should bomb forward, we have players that can cover for him. If he can get a shooting opportunity then give it a go as he probably has a better shot than all our forwards.
I can remember Graham Roberts getting loads of goals for us and he did not have anywhere near the ability of VDV

Best goal I’ve ever seen a CB score and he’s become pretty priceless for us, which means the likes of Madrid will at some point come sniffing, so we need to keep matching his ambitions by buying quality players for him to play with, and someone else to score some goals.
It’s important to tie him down contract wise as the Spanish clubs are now skint and would rather pick up the talent on a free.

I’d really like to see him spend a Vertonghen length stay with us.

I still cant get over the fact that van der Ven with the ball outpaced their no. 10 who was giving it full gas and never got any closer.
The pain on his face trying to keep up with someone dribbling reminded me of how i felt in my sunday league days...
If someone is rapid and has a bigger stride length, basically you're fucked.

Used to win everything at sports day apart from the flat race because of big lanky Andy K.

Fair point. Not sure he is the best LCB defensively. Offensively yes, and overall he's certainly up ther. Could potentially be even more of an offensive threat from LB. I guess the point is whether overall our team is stronger with him marauding up and down the left flank and a Romero - Danso/Vuskovic CB partnership. I think it's potentially a good option given our LB cover weakness.
I think he can run as a striker for us. I mean he is fast, he is strong and can hold the ball, He can certainly head and striker the ball too. Why not?:frankear:

Hate to say it but when thinking about what we’ll be forced to sell him at if we don’t qualify for champions league the numbers are stupid.

I cannot think of a top class defender who has had his physical range speed height in history who also has the premium of being a left footer. Coming into his peak with three years left I think he smashes all records for a defender. The Maguire and Van Dyke fees from 2017 will inflation adjust to about 150 million by 2026 and that would only be acceptable if he forced the exit by refusing to resign. Especially when you add in his absurd goalscoring record this season

Can we not just leave him be in the position he’s really very good at? I’m amazed how many people want to move his position. Leave well alone, brilliant to have him as a threat from where he is popping up every now and again with every opposition fully aware of what he can do which in itself causes problems for whoever they are. We just need to find another set of mickeys ( careful now) in their own positions that we need improved.

Tongue in cheek I guess, it look at the way Haaland is playing this season. Starts his runs ten yards inside his own half and by the time he passes halfway, defenders are turning, but Haaland is already at full pelt. VDV could do the same.
