That's a problem.......

The win % last season - all comps - was shocking.

.......Something a manager should remind them of everyday; until it sticks.

How's that strategy working out for Frank? :frankfacepalm:

Yeah I was just joking around. The message is correct but he's just in a terrible position because he's the first guy having to deliver it.

His position is uniquely Spurs (and that i appreciate); but its hardly like taking over from Fergie.

........Any good pro (player and manager) should be open to the idea that 22 losses last season simply wasn't acceptable here...... And that (eg) 15-20 wouldn't be an acceptable notion of improvement either.

It's quite interesting considering we were getting absolutely battered every week and the crowd had turned on him and the players yet they all really rallied round him all the way to the final

Shame he wasn't a much better tactician as that's such a rare trait to get people onside no matter what
Listen I went early on Ange expressed doubts post the Chelsea debacle. But even as his harshest critic you WILL NEVER hear me say he isn't a gifted charismatic leader he's just a very vain dunce. Id have him on the bridge of the Enterprise D attacking Klingons be a great watch. Elite coach though...nah not for me. If he'd just get an elite number two the bloke who did tactics for Klopp and actually listen..but you know if its and buts we're pots and pans.

His opinion on coaches must've been the same as his view on players, guy genuinely thought that there was so little difference in ability amongst those at the top level that it didn't matter who you had if you just told them to go out and score more...

Sure, the only difference between a Messi and a Brennan Johnson is that Messi was told to go out and bag 100 g/a in a season...

:ange-hands-head:
Tbf he could have been a lot of fun to watch had he been at Spurs when we actually had good players, imagine him with the peak-Poch team, or the Mourinho Covid team with Son, Kane, Bale, Dele at his disposal.

It still would have failed spectacularly, but the spectacle would have been especially spectacular!

I wonder i moving him to LB would unlock some of his pace and ability to drive forward (we know he can cross, recall that Brennan goal at Old Trafford last year). Would also allow Spence to play at RB where he really needs a run at the expense of Porro. Bring Danso in next to Romero and get Vuskovic back from loan for cover (or to actually play)

Good God, another one :disdain:

Honestly, this fan base is so fucking riddled with limp wristed born fucking losers who revel in failure and mediocrity.....No wonder we're the go to joke of the wider football world.
My friend, you had no idea who Manuel Akanji is with 150 appearances in England.

No one expects you to know who Luka Vuskovic is, let alone his quality.

Sit down like a good boy and let the football people converse.

There's a good chap.

There's still people here think Ange proved us all wrong by his total 180 on tactics...Seriously Occam's Razor. That the players and Mason forced this on him is well known. Despite the deniers. Its the shameless way Postecoglou plays people gets to me. As for the I still believe in the system so do I, squad of 40, Man City resources it would be banging. Meanwhile back in the real world.
Ange would make for a great politician. Im not sure either why he resonates so well with so many people, but something has to be there.

There are probably lingering effects of Postecoglou's relationship with the current players. Everything with him centered around self-promotion. It wasn't about Spurs, everything was about him and his system. I think his personality and the promise of freedom to go forward without working hard on defense was attractive to young players who may not know what it takes to win at the Premier League level. Some of the players may blame fans, the media, and the team for sacking a guy whose motivational spiel and tactics they bought into. Imagine trying to come after a guy like that, especially since they have a trophy some may see as an all purpose excuse. It's going to take time to straighten out the whole "Big Ange" mess.

Hmmm Doesn't really account for the likes of son and Romero who were also extremely complimentary of him

His tactics may have been a failure at premier league level but I think it's just clear that he had a knack for bonding with players and getting them to believe in him

You talk as if him and Romero where not capable of dropping complete fucking stinkers on a regular. They are part of the problem. Im not having any of them.

I havent said that once. I'd rather sign players like them who want to be the best (and that probably means moving on) than signing those happy to fucking be here like Johnson, Spence, Bentancur, Solanke and the rest of the wasters who see Spurs at the pinnacle and stop trying because they think they've made it.

Micky van de Ven says him and Romero asked Postecoglou to make tactical changes. “At one point, we just walked up to the gaffer and said that we need to change some things and play more defensive sometimes. We played away at Frankfurt and were 1-0 up, and we can’t keep attacking, we just need to come back and have a low block and make sure we get the three points. “We sat with him and he agreed with us on some things and he told us that he expected us two guys to sort this on the pitch – to make sure that this is something everybody knows and to speak to everybody on the pitch.“He said to me and Cuti personally that we need to make sure the other guys listen to us, that we have a reputation in the team and everyone respects us, so make sure the guys follow what we say on the pitch. So, Cuti and I were just screaming at everyone.”

Pretty damning of Postecoglou, isnt it?

Ties in with what we know that the players didnt like the way we defended under Ange.

Watched the entire hour thing, he speaks very highly of postecoglou throughout it. Perhaps him and Spence are/were really big ange supporters...or cultists as they would be called on this board

Think Frank needs a clear the air meeting with them all, listen to their ideas and concerns and change his approach otherwise he could be in for a rough old 5 months with this lot

I do think the players didnt want him sacked. But for reasons good and bad. They could all hide behind him. Whilst I disliked Ange's stupid tactics he defended the players in the main except for a couple of them.

This bloke wants out and he's showing it. Get scouting replacements fast.
He's probably our best player but I just can't bring myself to care tbh

I was terrified of Kane, Alderweireld ,Son , Bale , Berbatov etc leaving but I just don't care about any of our players at this point

Wouldn't blink an eyelid if any of them left and would probably throw a party for some of them leaving
