Player Mikey Moore

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Player development is also hard to predict. I remember a newspaper article with the best young players in the world. Rooney was 18 or so at the time it was

1 Rooney
2 Ronaldo
3 Messi

Their careers you would have it the reverse but at the time Rooney as clearly 1st no question, Ronaldo was good but mostly doing tricks in a corner and Messi a bit younger yes but hadn’t proved himself at yet and wasn’t physically quite there.
Messi was just 16.
I think if something had happened to Rooney after the 2004 euros, meaning he couldn’t play again, we would have thought he was the best English player ever. Similar to how people view Duncan Edwards.
However Rooney was able to have a career and although it was a very good one probably not as good as we all thought. A liking for a pint probably contributed. What’s new with our flawed genius’. A few gone down that path.

To be fair Woolwich have had a big injury crisis up top where as our injury crisis was mostly the back and middle. The other factor I think that swung in Nwaneri’s favour is he is more physically developed for his age than Mikey. I saw both in multiple games for England U17. Moore was clearly a more technical and better player than Nwaneri but Nwaneri is a bit of a bulldog physically which makes it easier to jump up to men’s football. I agree though no point playing Moore right wing when he has played all the time on the left.
Not being racist but young black players are always more physically developed . Mind you, Mikey isn’t exactly a weed. He can take a whack and give it out. Just hope he gets in the pitch on Thursday. .

Don’t think Rooney had quite the Ronaldo laser focused desire, that being said he was perhaps the best playmaker/striker ability wise I can remember in the PL. Like Harry Kane but with speed. Just let his career sort of drift away.

Rooney was also playing at the highest level week in week out since he was 16. I think most of his fall off was simply because there are 1 in 10 million who can withstand that level of wear and tear on the body, regardless of diet.

Which is why I am sure the club are being patient with Mikey. He will be 18 when the league kicks off in August, still a spring chicken. I think it’s a little early to be jumping on anyone’s case about the game time he’s received as a 16-17 year old, especially considering the circumstances and atmosphere around the club.

Moore has had a very solid first year of senior football for a 17 year old. 99% of 17 year olds haven’t played and contributed this much in league one.

It’s been disrupted but if you’d told him at the start of the season he’d have goals and assists in the PL and Europe, he’d have absolutely ripped your hand off.

I’m not even sure Messi was playing men’s football at 17. Pep was holding Foden back at 17 as well. There’s no rush with young players.

Mikey won’t start another game this season and probably won’t get on as a sub either if everyone stays fit. He can class this season as a success a next season is when we hopefully see him kick on. You can see he’s not ready to play regularly but he’s still a kid. His ability is crazy good and when he’s turns into a man physically then his levels will go up.
I said this a few weeks ago he is unlikely to be seen in a spurs shirt again this season. Ffs Ange out on turbo the other week ahead of Moore. Tel and Wilson both around 19/20 have seen more mins than Moore but no better.

Disappointing for me was Timo Werner getting minutes ahead of him, or even being in the in squad again, even after getting Tel. Very strange stuff you'd be hard pressed to say we'd not have done at worst about the same if we'd used Moore for those occasions instead.

A lot depends on Ange staying or not, but generally I'd say Moore has a lot to look forward to here at Spurs next season. He should be a second option at LW and a third option at RW- something like that. If we are going to try and run Ange ball again though I'd rather he was sent out on loan rather than endure another season of this bizarre coaching.

Ridiculous that he’s not getting any game time

He’s on what ? £5000 a week , looks ambitious , hard working

This club is so stupid
That article is complete dross - "Moore has been told to quit Tottenham", "Tottenham fans are urging Mikey Moore to quit the club " because 1 random account on twitter posted he needs to get out while he can. What a load of shit

Yea, that title and everything just sound absolute fucking pathetic garbage.

I would wish him to still get some minutes, but why would ANY Tottenham fan URGE him to leave Spurs. Just total fucking shit.

What rush?

He literally has proved to be valuable off the bench.
I can as equally - why keeping him forcefully out when he looks to be able to contribute?

No one has said that he should play 90 minutes every game. Absolutely no one.
But wanting to see our bright youngster over some utter donkey like Werner seems very logical and normal to me.

I'm an American who didn't get interested in football until I retired. One of the comical aspects for me was getting used to the way the sport is covered in the media. The headlines about players being "told". We don't have anything in American sport like that. And the transfer rumours. It took me until my second transfer window to understand it was mostly just made up stories. Another great one is when reporters talk about the board of some team putting a manager on notice, as if they really did that and immediately picked up the phone to call a fifth rank website. Now you also have podcasts and YouTube sites. When I was young I worked in radio and when I see YouTube sites someone always has a microphone with a wind screen that is three times the size of what we ever used. It's like they think you gain credibility with a bigger mike. Anyone telling Mikey Moore to "quit the club" is useless and has no credibility.

I don’t get why Werner would be on the bench over Moore at all either.

Wouldn’t put it past Levy for that pressure to be coming from the club… “why are we paying Werner 190k pw when you pick an academy kid first?”

So, 2 things:

1. Reckon that article is massive clickbait and there’s no chance in hell a 17 year old Mikey Moore is unhappy with the minutes he got this year or thinking about leaving.

2. I’d absolutely prioritize Moore and Odobert over Tel for minutes out wide going into next season.

If Tel is the Richy replacement and rotation CF then it makes sense for squad numbers. That’s what Ange said to begin with. If he’s another wide player, which Ange just said, then it’s just another incoherent, scatter gun youth signing.
