Player Mikey Moore

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Richard Arlison Richard Arlison wait, wat was all that about Ange "giving chances to youth that are ready"?

Here's recent timeline -
19th January - Moore comes on against Everton, delivers brilliant assist.
23th January- Moore comes on as substitution vs Hoffenheim and again creates a goal
30th January - Moore plays full game vs Elfsborg, scores a goal and helps to secure a win.

So 17 yo talented academy player plays part in three goals in 11 days (!).

And then... across next full February and first 10 days of March gets 2x45 minutes and gets dropped from the squad alltogether.

What a way to nurture next generation. What a brilliant future planning. What a manager to build foundation 😍 .
Or... is it just a case that he actually plays youth players only when he has absolutely no other way at all as last resort? :D

From what I have seen, he is far far far superior to Odobert technically. Odobert beats him for pace and strength, although Moore is not weak by any means. I wonder if AM would better suit him in the future. Hopefully, he gains a bit of pace.

Surprised he is now seemingly out of the picture.

This is a reason a caretaker is needed, having Ange 'try to save his job' when he is already toast, and play senior players in the remaining meaningless games is utterly pointless. Moore and Dane should be tested with starts, and the likes of Olusesi, Ajayi, maybe Williams-Barnett from the bench.

I read somewhere he was waiting for Richarlison to come back... He has no future here why play him at all (outside of the Europa maybe)?

If nothing else it helps the club make better decisions about the academy grads. Who knows maybe it could inform us that we don't need yet another wide player, maybe even Dane is fine as a backup striker to Solanke, you don't know unless you play them.

Mikey won’t start another game this season and probably won’t get on as a sub either if everyone stays fit. He can class this season as a success a next season is when we hopefully see him kick on. You can see he’s not ready to play regularly but he’s still a kid. His ability is crazy good and when he’s turns into a man physically then his levels will go up.

he's certainly not gonna play a 17 year old to develop him in europa league from now on for obvious reasons.
Once we are out of that, and the league is truly dead rubber (in his mind) I'd expect he gets the odd sub appearances . He's featured in squads even when injuries werent forcing his hand

I think he could be great , but he is not quite ready for men’s football other than the odd cameo.
Lots can go wrong so it’s not a given he makes it at elite level , but he definitely has a shot at the big time.
Would be nice to see another academy player excel , they are few and very far between sadly

I left the Elfs game with a smile, having seen Moore, Scarlett and Ajayi all score.
Really disappointed not to have seen more of at least Moore and Scarlett since. Yes, they are young but what fearless enthusiasm they showed that night.
If we are genuinely "resting" players why have these 3 not been more prominent.

I think he's out at the moment 'cos he's got his S.A.T.s coming up!!

Well, I would be OK with him not starting another game (even though we still have Southampton game to play for example!), but even getting 15-20 minutes at the end of the game would be fine. Being completely frozen off is not.

Specially in context of, as I mentioned, him contributing to 3 goals while likes of Odobert and Tel have 2 combined...

I’d have him on for 20 min cameos too. He’s the future and the more he’s exposed he’ll become the present quicker. At the Villa game was the first time I thought he looked well off it physically.

It would be a shame if Mikey Moore doesn't get more PL and EL minutes this season , I think it will dent his confidence if he gets frozen out doesn't get to show what he's got . I like to see him run at defences , we don't have many players that will do that . I've followed him from the academy years and he's been playing up in games - Playing U18s when he was 16yrs old and U21s when he was 17yrs old . He's got what it takes at PL level , he just needs more minutes to build his game on . We have another young player in the academy that's making a name for himself - Luka Williams-Barnett . He's going to be a great player when he matures a little and will be training with the first team hopefully next season .

Another player treated bizarrely by the manager. The scum are playing nwaneri and he's playing well, Moore could have had a similar impact definitely. Yet when played he's been nullified by being played on the right. He hasnt been given a fair chance.

To be fair Woolwich have had a big injury crisis up top where as our injury crisis was mostly the back and middle. The other factor I think that swung in Nwaneri’s favour is he is more physically developed for his age than Mikey. I saw both in multiple games for England U17. Moore was clearly a more technical and better player than Nwaneri but Nwaneri is a bit of a bulldog physically which makes it easier to jump up to men’s football. I agree though no point playing Moore right wing when he has played all the time on the left.

The thing with Moore is he does look outstanding ability wise and at youth level was all conquering. However he still looks like he is a few years from getting senior strength and explosive power.

Rooney, Lamal even Nwaneri are good examples of players who reach physical maturity at 16-17. Moore clearly isn’t that, Messi didn’t get the explosive hit till 18-19. You can be as talented as you like but without physical maturity you are at a disadvantage.

Player development is also hard to predict. I remember a newspaper article with the best young players in the world. Rooney was 18 or so at the time it was

1 Rooney
2 Ronaldo
3 Messi

Their careers you would have it the reverse but at the time Rooney as clearly 1st no question, Ronaldo was good but mostly doing tricks in a corner and Messi a bit younger yes but hadn’t proved himself at yet and wasn’t physically quite there.

I think it just shows Ange has no interest in playing the youngsters if not for those injuries. He just bull shitting when he said these kids are great and will have minutes. Like all the crap about testing Spence. Deep down he should be thankful our youngsters are keeping him so long in the job.
