You could see shoots of what we can achieve down the left when teams shift to our right to double up on him but having zero width on the left with 2 right footers playing kills whatever chance we have of utilising that space, Spence and Odobert constantly trying to cut in to congested space. Could really have done with a left winger who can go inside or outside a fullback, hate to say it as I think he will defo come good eventually but someone like Leao would have utterly transformed us much more than Xavi IMO and we had good options at 10 when all are fit, we have no good LW players at all. He's miles ahead of our other forwards whatever faults he has.
At the moment when you shut him down we are fucked.
We really miss James Maddison.
There has been far too much fear to buy players who are simply "good" at reasonable prices to fill gaps in the squad and upgrade slowly in my opinion. We are constantly trying to buy players who are either young with lots of hype but mostly raw potential (Gray, Odobert, Tel, even Sarr and Udogie fit this spec tbh) or players who are "undervalued" and/or have had a "breakout" season that haven't yet been offered a bumper deal by their current club to persuade them to stay. Arteta built Woolwich to what they are with signings like Trossard, Jesus and Zinchenko, players he relied on heavily that quantifiably improved his team at the time that don't get a game when all are fit or in the case of Zinchenko have been fucked off to Forest.Over playing him and asking him to be Black Panther every game is not a plan only Bale prime could do that. We all know having Semenyo other side makes Kudus much harder to deal with but that's no plan the whole of Europe want Semenyo. We were never getting Savinho so we need to find an alternative who is elite and we have a shot at because Tel and Odobert look as ready as Luca Williams-barnett.
just shows how poor we are in that front line, i think kudus is ok, he defo has some decent positives about him, but if hes your best attacker, you aint going to be competing for anything at this level. He's miles ahead of our other forwards whatever faults he has.
I think he's mustard and would look even better with better players feeding him and for him to service, I think he's the better player out of him and Doku who has played in every City match so far except the league cup game vs Huddersfield, largely ahead of Savinho who is the more productive player with better end product of the two, but clearly Pep feels he needs a line-breaker in his side who seemingly has the ball magnetised to their feet, it can really unsettle a defence when a CB is caught in two minds about whether to stay with his man or move across to help a beaten full back.just shows how poor we are in that front line, i think kudus is ok, he defo has some decent positives about him, but if hes your best attacker, you aint going to be competing for anything at this level.
serious investment is needed into that front line, bar kudus, the rest should be binned off. not good enough for a side who wants to be top4.
agree with this, putting better players around kudus will defo help him, without a doubt. maybe with some competence around him he will release the ball quicker too.would look even better with better players feeding him and for him to service,
Semenyo is a Gooner and will have his pick of clubs come January. 0% chance he is joining this club, as much as I'm willing it to be.He needs some help in this team.
I hope he can persuade his mate Semenyo to join us.
im going the other way: He’ll be the same player but it’ll be worse when we have more sustained attacks and better players, when he doesn’t release the ball at the right time or spot players, it’s going to ruin more promising attacks. I think he looks good/decent now because we’re not that good a team and he’s making the ball stick a bit when we’re having trouble playing footballI think he's mustard and would look even better with better players feeding him and for him to service, I think he's the better player out of him and Doku who has played in every City match so far except the league cup game vs Huddersfield, largely ahead of Savinho who is the more productive player with better end product of the two, but clearly Pep feels he needs a line-breaker in his side who seemingly has the ball magnetised to their feet, it can really unsettle a defence when a CB is caught in two minds about whether to stay with his man or move across to help a beaten full back.
This is the thing, at the minute he is our only fit creative attacking player in the front 3 , teams are happy to let us have the ball on the left side and double up on the right as we do nothing with it, we aint getting Semenyo that ship has sailed but we need someone decent on the left to make teams think a bit and our attack not become so one dimensional!Over playing him and asking him to be Black Panther every game is not a plan only Bale prime could do that. I can’t remember the game, but we tried that and he was totally lost on the left wing.Would like to switch it up a bit where sometimes during the game Odobert and Kudus switch wings.
