I think ALL of this has stemmed from the fact that Demis Roussos realised the Top Secret For Your Eyes Only 'release clause' he set was relatively LOW compared to how much they bought him from Wolves for

They paid £25m for him and set the clause over double. I don't know how plausible the bonuses were, but even if reached they were £40m or so total - so still a 50% profit.

The problem with ridiculously wealthy and powerful owners is that they do not tend to listen to many people.

Somebody needs to get into this guy's ears. Nobody need to be insulting about him as well. That's without need or class.

Potentially 115 million for 2 players, which allows Forest to go and plunder elsewhere.

Gibbs-White doesn't want to be there anymore. It's only lose lose now if they seek to force him to stay.

Good luck with that, his ego is possibly even bigger than his belly. He seems absolutely determined to make an absolute mess of this (without having a proper case).

That's why it's so odd the fuss they're making....
£60m is this Summer's £40m... several players have been priced in that £55-65m bracket, and 60 sits smack in between...

If Levy offers summit derisory, WE kick off saying he's a cheapskate, but let's face it, when Man City offered £75/80 earlier in the Summer, Moussaka Dembelly would never say "no, no need to offer THAT much, as his release is £20m below..."
He'd have taken that big fat profit and stuffed it down his gullet in a heartbeat, without thinking twice about not mentioning it to City that they've overpaid....

Either that, or he's taken some sort of misplaced "Greek umbridge" on Ange's behalf....

Maybe they're related, and he wants one over Levy and the club who wronged his cousin!

Not sure what the owner is doing. According to Fabrizio we had agreed a deal and Forest had allowed the medical for it all to go through then the owner himself suddenly jumps. Clearly if the clause was not valid Forest wouldn’t have started the process in the first place for him to leave. That means the owner basically has a meltdown and told Forest to ignore legal process.

The problem for Forest unless they can provide cast iron evidence like emails of wrongdoing on our part is:

1. CAA stellar are the biggest agency around and he just tried to fuck over. So 10-30% of Forest transfer targets if they belong to this agency will now be difficult.

2 If he persists he is in breach of law which I assume would then void the contract Forest have with the player and they wouldn’t get a penny.

This is the part I'm not getting either.

All the initial reports were saying that we spoke to Forest, and then said that Forest themselves allowed the medical.

I don't see what the issue is.

Anyone know how things stand if MGW put in a transfer request? Can he hold Forest to his current contract but force the move by putting in a transfer request? And what would he forfeit by doing this? and would any contract that's in place dissolved?

I think it is as simple as their owner is a tyrant and they are scared of him. A man who always gets his own way and melts down when he doesn’t even if the law is totally against him.

Transfer request isn’t needed if there is a release clause and we have met it. Legally Forest have to release him.

Very different culture as well. It's not that uncommon in Greece to bring a nice shiny pistol to a business meeting or some negotiations. Maybe fire a couple of rounds in the ceiling when necessary!

Got it  My thinking, or over thinking perhaps, was if MGW put in a transfer request would it erase this 60m tap-up clause nonsense and stop Forest trying to hang on to a player that obviously wants away, i.e, transfer request?

I know. So, I’m wondering if we offered the exact amount or an odd amount, fractionally over that strange amount, which clearly suggests we knew.

Doesn’t change anything, but it’s going to raise eyebrows.

Like when the scum offered £1 over the Suarez clause.
Same horse different jockey...Bucktooth was open to joining the Scum but the trigger only forced the selling club to begin talks so all the £1 over did was annoy the owner who reported them to the drugs squad in response.

These billionaire owners often care as much about their ego as their money so it remains to be seen what lengths the BFG will go to in order to block a deal.

A positive footnote arising out of these types of stalemate comes from the Sporting president who's adamant he's prepared to let Gyokeres rot for 3 years rather than let him force a transfer.

From the Forest forum

“In terms of the criticisms of Morgan, my view would be:

Moving for money - no problem, most people would do the same

Moving to live in London - not for me, but each to their own

Moving to a joke club with no fan culture, spectators rather than fans, and no chance of regularly competing - baffling, but each to their own

Blindsiding the club (if this is what has happened) - very disappointing given the great bond we’ve had with him

In the scheme of things, none of this matters. Unfortunately we have to find a replacement - yesterday if possible”

They obviously haven’t seen our trumpet

The thing I'm absolutely shocked about is that release clauses usually state they have to be paid in one go right? I mean what team ever pays 60m in 1 hit...much less us?

It either investments coming in or the clause states the 60m has to be paid in a certain number of installmenst and our thick as pig shit board bid 60m and stated the exact number of installments it would be paid....I mean even they wouldn't do that dumb right?

TBF he'd complain if opened a can of pringles with the wrong kind of pop.

He's the Karen of the PL
