Apparently the agent is an extension of the player...
This is a massive grey area.

Gibbs-White is repped by CAA. One of if not the biggest agency in football. Who also rep a good chunk of our players. Talking about possible future players will be inevitable and this is something that everyone does. It is in the agencies best interest to engineer moves for their players. Or at the very least improved contracts.

Hell, just today news dropped that Liverpool were talking to Mateta and his agency. Without having approached Palace first for permission.

tldr: While players may not get to contact other clubs while under contract, agents/agencies do.

If we spoke to him without permission then we broke the rules, but I expect it’ll be hard to prove.

Whether we know details of his contract or not is not on us as a club, that’s on the player and his team. We didn’t see or sign it. 😅

Listening to Simon Jordan and reading some Athetic article that is what every club does. Pretty much all of Forest’s squad will have been ‘tapped up’ by Forest when the bought them from other clubs, that’s standard industry practice.

I think the only thing that could matter is if on email we asked for the release clause if it’s an NDA and Forest have the email of us and the agency talking but that would be beyond amateur for us to send Forest an email with us asking the Stellar agency for MGW details.

We ain’t getting done for that, there’s loads of ways round it and I’m sure we have followed one of them.
Exactly. It is just nonsense and posturing. From a dick who has no leverage. Whether it’ll affect MGW coming to Spurs or not is one thing, but he will surely want to move on regardless now. And that bellend has just aggravated the biggest sports agency too.

Also why are Forest fans coming here to give their opinions? Lol who has that much time that they go to a rival board to moan off 😅

Blokes come on a Spurs forum to tell us he likes a fat heroin dealer with accusations of assassination more than we like Levy. I mean it's probably true...but it's not something to brag about.

Yeah, but if we emailed and they sent the info, that’s not on us. 😅

I have to add some balance because clearly SOME of you fellas aren't interested in it & are just resulting in calling our owner fat & commiting libel (the usual tiresome response).

The club would not be complaining if it wasn't illegally triggered, we are not "dragging it out", we don't want to sell him & never had unless it was for stupid money. I know you like to think Levy is the worlds best businessman but we think highly of our owners ability to control deals ourselves, and he is much more popular here than Levy is at your place because of his desire to not allow people to shit on the club.

I think the reality of this situation is Levy has tried to pull a slick one & activate a clause without knowing the fine print of the contract. Levy should have contacted the club & done it by the book, it might work at other clubs where you can poach players but as pointed out above, our owner will act if he thinks he's getting shafted. There was no clause reported until a week ago, and within 5 minutes he had a medical booked.

Nobody knows the fine print in the contract, that is why any technical discussions are pointless. But Forest wouldn't be taking it to the courts out of pettiness. This situation is so rare because things are normally done professionally & by the book. In my personal opinion of how this plays out is Spurs will end up withdrawing their bid as the outcome of an illegal is not worth the bother for you. Sorry to dampen on your parade, but Levy has fucked this up. Not Forest.
Keeping players who don't want to play for you is never a good idea.
He can easily run down his contract and leave for free if he feels you shafted him on his release clause.
Other players that you go after will also play hard ball with their contracts or potentially be put off signing for you at all if they suspect you aren't playing with a straight bat.
Once a players head has been turned and he wants out, your best bet is to resolve it quickly and use the time wisely to find a replacement.

The longer this drags on, if he leaves the worse it is for your prep for next season.
