Didn't hear the guy reporting mention us but he did confirm they had written to MGW and his agent warning them a breach of confidentiality risks the possibility of legal action.

They are not able to do likewise in our case because they are not talking to us ever again.....their lawyers might though.

PS. The same guy reporting also said NF were offering double his wages to remove the release cause and he still refused...guy wants away.
I think he leaves Forest regardless. The bridges are burned. The fans want him gone and the player wants out.

There is precedent set in the premier league -

In 2002, Liverpool Football Club was fined £20,000 by the Premier League for an illegal approach for Christian Ziege, who was then at Middlesbrough. Ziege himself was also fined £10,000 for his part in the transfer. Middlesbrough had claimed Liverpool illegally approached Ziege, who had a release clause in his contract, and that they could have sold him for more than the £5.5 million Liverpool paid. Middlesbrough also sought further compensation.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  • The Allegation: Middlesbrough alleged that Liverpool made an illegal approach to Christian Ziege, a player under contract, without their permission.

  • The Premier League's Finding: The Premier League found Liverpool guilty of making an illegal approach.

  • Fines: Liverpool was fined £20,000, and Ziege was fined £10,000.

  • Middlesbrough's Claim: Middlesbrough argued that Liverpool's actions deprived them of a higher transfer fee and potential revenue from Ziege's sale. They sought £2.5 million in compensation.

  • Legal Action: Middlesbrough considered taking legal action against Liverpool in the High Court to pursue further compensation.

  • Ziege's Perspective: Ziege himself admitted the situation was a "mess" and that he didn't like how it unfolded,

But it appears that Man City approached Forest and asked how much they wanted for Gibbs-White. Forest did not break the NDA and said £100 million. Man City could have put in a lower bid, but decided not to pursue it at that time. If they had known that there was a release clause and its amount then they would have bid £60 million, but they were not entitled to be told about that clause, even if they had made a successful offer.
yeah but then Ciy went and signed Reijnders instead so no longer want MGW. We bid the magic number.

This is 100% what Marinakis is hoping for. He's stalling as much as possible in hopes that another club comes in with a bigger offer. Or so that he can convince MGW to sign a new contract.
Don't think it works like that. If the other clubs want to hijack then they will all offer the same 60m and let the player choose.

Paying the extra money makes no sense if 60m is all thats needed and Forest are then oblidged to sell. At least thats how its meant to work!

I am Cityground and I am here because I joined the forum and I am now using it without breaking any rules. I'm happy to introduce myself to such a welcoming person as yourself.
I hope you’ve not joined for any kind of warm welcome or nuanced debate, because if you have, you’ve taken a wrong turn my friend. We eat our fucking young on here. Although, you’ve lasted longer than most cunts from rival clubs. Seem to recall we’ve got a couple of wee house trained pets from Leicester and Newcastle, but most are spun out of here quick smart.

I don’t think we’ll keep you around. Just don’t get that warm and fluffy feeling from you. Sorry.

No the deal isn't dead.
You might need to be the one to let it all go this summer.

He still signed for Liverpool.
Pay the fine, get on with it.

i wonder if mgw and his agent improperly leaked the release amount like a lot of players and agents do and then the bfg (big fat greek) freaked out and is threatening to make life difficult for mgw and that's why he's gone quiet now. bfg's plan now is to make this as difficult and ugly as possible and scupper the deal which is standard business procedure for crooks like bfg. i also think this is a point of pride or whatever for bfg and he'd rather mgw leave for free than go to us.

signed, me, hvg
Same way our deal with Cardosa got leaked. Once the player decided he wanted another club and not to join us then we were snookered despite having an NDA/ first refusal or whatever the cool kids call it

Where is Morgan Gibbs White?
He's in here somewhere, the naughty little minx...

If the Spurs deal collapses, now everyone apparently knows the release clause.. can nobody bid the release clause?

Is this fat Greek allowing players low release clauses because he knows he can fat cry his way out of ever honouring them?

If Chelsea decide they want him next week and bid 60m, then this confidential release clause has been leaked and fatty will take fat legal action against them?

His skins like leather. Like a crocodile. Fat crocodile, fat cunt.
