Dude - he's a winger

He's really not though, is he?

I thought he was a cross between Dembele (box to box) Wanyama and Dier (powerhouse holding midfielder)
...a winger was the last thing I thought he was!
You could argue that Son, or even Eriksen have more wing-play to their game, rather than being out-and-out wingers/attacking midfielders... like Lamela, N'Koudou or Onomah.

Long time reader, recently thought I'd dip my toe in to posting...

Huge Poch fan and feeling very optimistic about this season, but not ' thrilled' by this signing.

Aside from finding the phrase ' beast' exceptionally annoying, I also find ' brains' and 'technique' triumph over 'beastiness' for both entertainment and effectiveness.

See the 'beastly 3' of Dembele, Paulinho and Sandro for reference.

I agree we were lacking pace, but I feel like we needed a player with low centre of gravity and a burst of acceleration from a stand rather than a Sissiko type 'beast'/sprinter'.

Amazing we didn't try to sign Manè ( especially as Poch name checked him ) or at least a Boufal type player.

Hopefully GNK is that player for us, but I do fear for Sissoko and how he will fit into our system. I don't feel like he has the guile to play in any of the floating 3 positions nor the discipline to play in the pivot. Where he's worked excellently is in a 3 man midfield with France... A system we don't play.

Hope this doesn't end up on the list of bizarre Poch signings like Stambouli, N'jie and Fazio... But hey ho he's a yid now so I hope I'm proved wrong !

Besides what do Deschamps, Poch and Koeman know ?:vertna:

Very impressed with him today. Great work rate, defended well and always willing to take on his man. Ridiculously quick too.

Looking to be a smart buy, especially if he also ends up playing some games in central midfield too and shows us his versatility.

I was being greedy in hoping that, as an ex-Geordie, he'd at least score against Soonerlund...
Still, he put in a good shift, and showed positive signs for the future.

...but 2-0 wouldn't half have eased the groans when 6 minutes went up!

Sissoko has been given so many rebounds since the match against Sunderland last Sunday. Well, he is THERE to take a shot, which is critical. If only his shots were lower or on the ground, he could have been on the scoresheets a couple occasions. I suppose his chances will come! Keep on training!

His goal scoring record at Newcastle was poor and his few attempts so far has shown why. He needs to improve and get them on target if he wants to be selected in the attacking midfielders ahead of Dele, Eriksen, Lamella or Son.

I know it's a split in the fans where he should be playing, but in all honesty he doesn't do enough in the wide positions to warrant a start there ahead of the likes of Eriksen, Son, Lamela, Alli. Try him next to a Dier or Wanyama or even Dembele at CM and see how he goes - in my opinion he would bring much more to the team from there. His passing and shooting really doesn't seem suited to a position that far forward, and he could use his strength and dribbling much more effectively when driving from deep.
