Kit New Kit

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

And yet, in 21-22 people complained about the all white being plain.

Not a fan of centered badges, but Nike gets more stick than they deserve. Never gonna please everyone, and the modern business of football dictates 3 all new kit designs every season. It is what it is.

This year's is a classic because of the trophy. Hopefully next years is the same.
I think we should go back to having new kits every couple of seasons and not having long-term contracts to any one company. A new kit used to be something to get excited about and they all used to be different because the designers weren't under pressure to produce new kits every year to fulfill a long-term contract.

The Nike-Tottenham arrangement is clearly one made by and for the bean counters with no genuine love for football strips.

What I will say for Nike is that I like the materials they use and their shirts are very comfortable to wear compared to their older counterparts. I tend to stick to the away and third shirts because the home ones have got very samey. I also tend to get them when they're discounted unless it's a design I really like.

I wouldn't begrudge them a crappy kit every now and again if it wasn't for the extortionate markup they put on them.

Duff shirt but £30-40? Yeah, I can live with that.

But £85? Get in the bin you wankers. £15 for a decent knock-off it is.

The 'Stadium' ready shirts (Dry-Fit) are a fukkin rip off new - ngl. Crap material, bad badges etc...

The 'Elite' ones (Vapor-Knit) aren't too bad, I like the way they stretch & easier to clean - most of mine in the new era are the Vapor-Knit variants. The ONLY reason I would get one of the Elites this year is because they can come with this badge.

For this shirt - in Vapor-Knit with the badges etc etc is £151 - not bad if it's the ONLY merch I'd get all year...

Considering the 'Winners 25' Official 'Stadium' shirt aka not Vapor-Knit are £108...yeah get fukked with that...

I don't buy kits, to each their own but as a 40 year old man I feel like a tit.

I agree with you about not changing all the kits every year. But its just not going to happen without a change in the business model of football - such as a pivot to a collective kit and apparel deal across the league. But that isnt feasible outside of a completely new structure I don't want to talk about, because of promotion/relegation. This is just the reality of the market now.

Uniforms are one of the things I think US sports have right - its part of the identity of the team, it shouldn't change every year, or even every few years.

Do Premier League football clubs *actually* sell more jerseys changing them every year than American franchises do keeping them the same?

I've always wondered that. A bit tricky to make an apples-to-apples comparison of course, but it's never seemed super clear to me that constantly changing your core brand identity like that is a net financial benefit.

Whether you buy more club tat or not; the price is still the price.........

£151 for a football shirt IS bad.

Either way; that looks cheesy as fuck.

Assuming the matchday shirts will commemorate the EL win in a more traditional fashion (some kind of embroidered EL winners 21.05.25 on the front); surely one would want a replica of that instead?

Already have the EL Winning kit the Vapor-Knit with Son on the back as I had to buy on a bet during the Man United Match where Sonny scored that Olympico 'If sonny scores I buy the fukkers shirt!' that cost me £130 from the shop as they had a 20% discount on em.

£151 as I said is fine IF it was the only Spurs merch I bought but as I've said before I aint coughing up any coffers for merch until they earned it with some bloody wins next season...if we win another trophy probably...

They only do the 'shit' stadium version for the 'Winners' shirt which, as I said, aint worth £80 let alone £108!

I'm 41 & still wear Spurs shirts (I own about 20 I think) but then I wear them about the house - I only wear them out if the godkids or mates want a kickabout.

I also own other team's shirts too.

Yeah, fair enough - but some people like to buy to support the club, others have kids who want the latest shirts (regardless how shit they are). The pricing is predatory.

The pricing sucks....... Not disputing that for a second.

Just rejecting the implication from a few people here that the price becomes more acceptable if that year's design just happens to 'chime' with them.

The whole DH-Gate phenomena should make Nike, Adidas and the associated clubs take a long hard look at their pricing model; but they won't so long as a base level of people keep emptying their wallets on the club websites.

Same as Sky/BT vs illegal streaming.

I do think there's 2 different cultures at play. Traditionally, most PL kits have been sold without player names and numbers. Whereas US jerseys almost always have a player name and number.

I think this is part of the genesis of new year->new kit. Whereas players drive sales in the US, in the UK if the kit doesnt change the only reason you'd buy a new one is when you get fatter.
