Isn't the reason for re-doing these pretty much two-fold? a) to make it clean and easy to replicate on everything, particularly on t'internet, and b) to create a copywrited version so they can protect themselves against and challenge any knock-offs.

IIRC, that's what the blurb said when they changed ours the last time.
 
Yeah, but only 'cos half the logo would disappear on a Blue & Red striped shirt!!

Whereas on a Pristine WHITE shirt... Purple/Maroon/Red stands out just lovely!
Fair point, but I'd also wager that there is less cultural relevance to the purple than AIA has with red (I.e. A lucky colour in Asia).

Regardless, purple would look better than red on the home shirt - the problem is then, y'know, the whole slavery thing.
... As opposed to AIA who regularly change the colour of their logo to suit our away kits..
Only because their hand is forced by it looking terrible on the away and third shirt designs.

They've likely settled for the red on the home shirt because we play enough matches in that kit to satisfy them.
