If the new kits are very tastefully done and we all love them will it be because they are supplied by an American company? Or is that something that only gets flung around when something sucks? #justsayin

I'll get my hat.

Not that I've been saying that myself but where people have, I think they are referring to the fact that sports shirts in the US are generally a lot more garish than we are used to/want to see Tottenham wearing.

As opposed to just hating on America, which it probably looks like to you.

Re: New Spurs kit

If we repeat a two year deal for shirt sponsorship, I'm not sure - how long before we get a new stadium?

I'm genuinely not offended. Just joking, really. Although if we're all just fat Americans it doesn't seem like very good business sense on UA's part to make such snug jerseys. To tell you the truth I'm holding my breath to see what they come up with and just hoping it doesn't suck, because I don't want the "leave it to the Americans to fuck it up" thing to become even more en vogue. While we're on the subject of garish though, you mean like the New York Yankees, Boston Celtics, and Indianapolis Colts or like Man City's away, Bolton's home, or Tottenham's third last season? Even we think that certain college teams are way over the top (add Boise State and Virginia Tech to that list), and not for nothin' but Nike makes Oregon's uniforms not Under Armour.

Having a clean attractive kit which emphasizes THFC's heritage is important to me too. I guess I don't really have a point. Maybe I'm feeling sensitive over the America fucked up the internet because of SOPA venom being spewed this week.

We're sorry?

there is this thing now with american college football teams going crazy with the outrageous uniforms, it started with Orgeon Ducks, then TCU, now Maryland.... tackier the better i guess. i can't stand it myself. the Oregon uniforms are the WORSE.

that said, i also hope UA don't go overboard with the spurs shirts....
The Oregon strip was, iirc, part of a whole experiment by Nike… there was some kind of totally absurd number of combinations, because of the various pants and shirts available.

Even the concept mockups here I don't particularly mind, since they're bold, without being ridiculous. OTOH, who knows if we will still look at them that way in 20 years, the mid-90s shirts have certainly not aged particularly well! I would still prefer an all-white shirt with a collar, just like this year's!

But no matter what, the two things that annoy me most about Spurs shirts are:

1. the red in the sponsor

2. the fact that the official PL "blue" is different than our blue, meaning our numbers and names are a different shade than the rest of the details on the shirt. Drives me up a wall seeing it on screen and basically guarantees that I will not buy the shirt with a name. (I lucked out and have last year's home and away completely blank, without even a sponsor. Sadly, I got a little too excited playing with the home shirt on over the summer, and now it's, um, showing evidence of being used to prevent a sweaty dude from being naked).

Re: New Spurs kit

Our gear finally arrived from the UK, that means I have all my old kits. In the monsters room we have already put up the Danny Rose 125 year kit I managed to lay my hands on. Shame he didn't make it on to the pitch that night but it was still worth the dosh.

Re: New Spurs kit

The quality of Under Armour clothing is generally top notch - a step above Nike/Adidas in most cases. Hopefully the design matches the quality of the clothing.

Re: New Spurs kit

Here's what I think they'll look like, based on other kits and the design of the Puma kit last season...

anyway, here's some dodgy photoshop...

Re: New Spurs kit

fitting aside, the majority of those are pretty understated and not too bad. Hopefully they just keep it simple.

The worry is that this will be a shirt that will be seen the world over and could be very big for them particularly in Europe. They may want to do something that will 'stand out'. Hopefully the club has more sense and I assume has final say on any design

Re: New Spurs kit

The home kit you mocked up there, if the stripe of blue was removed from the chest, would be ok by me. Same for the away I suppose.
