Stadium New Stadium

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Looks weird. More like revamp than a brand new stadium. Every thing seems a bit clunky. Plus their 'Yellow wall' is about 30% smaller than ours in terms of capacity.
I really like it. I think our new stadium is the nuts but I like, probably prefer the more angular no wave concept
The docks site lends itself to a more angular, boxy design than the NWHL site, which is tight and limited due to existing buildings and roads. This means Everton can eliminate corner dips and other architectural feature of an oval design. Also went with a distinct look to each stand like NHWL, but without the same flow.

It is certainly interesting, wonder what the final renders will look like - these seem quite preliminary. I would compare it more to the new Stamford Bridge designs than NWHL, outside of the home end design which is obviously similar to ours and Dortmund.

These boys are coming down now...

Been following SSC but never made an account. Worth signing in just to thumbs up the "jack off time" comment

You think we went curved due to spacial constraints ... interesting. You may well be right

Im gonna get flamed for this but I also really like the design for the new chav stadium

I know it looks like someone flipped a k&n air filter upside down but I appreciate the alternative design approach

Can I just add I detest the club itself and if the stadium all fell in on itself I'd be delighted

With 'sixteen sites considered' can't understand why they've gone with a site where from the outset one stand will be limited in size, and where further expansion won't be possible ... that said the design fits the land footprint really well, amazing how stand slope angles, distance from pitch, single tier end so closely follows ours .... although it is a football stadium so just how different can they be? ... noticeable how much less corporate they plan to have ... that's just the London effect giving us a huge advantage ... if your a fan then on the plus side at least the ST's will be cheap

I think this is the only site that the council is prepared to contribute towards......

I think this is the only site that the council is prepared to contribute towards......

Didn't know that and so fair enough, it's a great location for the fans and makes good use of a 'brownfield' site .....

In Everton's defense this is no West Ham freebie scenario, although the Council 'appear' to be putting up a huge amount of money it's not actually theirs, so in theory the deal will cost the Council nothing and in fact they make a substantial profit on the loan ....

In simple terms -

The Council 'borrow' the money from a central government fund, that's at a 0.5 or even zero percent interest rate, they have the ability to do this whereas Everton have been unable to raise the money from the markets, they've tried and failed for a decade already ....

The council then lend on this money to Everton at 7.6% interest ... over the length of the loan the council will make some 125m in interest ... that's of course assuming Everton repay the loan principle ...

It's a good deal for everyone ... it will leave Everton with a substantial annual debt payment, but assuming they fill the ground the extra match-day revenue alone will more than cover it ...

Only question that remains is should the Council be lending money to a company that the banks think is too risky

Different criteria can be applied, the council can legitimately point at increased revenue from the regeneration that will occur around a development of this size ... when that happens this secondary activity will all generate new revenue for the council, it would not benefit a bank or private lender ... so how you quantify that benefit?
Harringay Council have said Spurs ground will generate 2,500 jobs and bring in >50m a year in additional revenue to the borough, not sure how they quantify that or how much of it goes to the council, if any ... but for sure it will change the whole of Tottenham, and remember we were already there ...

A new stadium at Bramley Moore will transform a near derelict site ... you'd think that's gotta be worth the risk for the council, especially when it's with someone else's money ....

If you don't have the wave, you get lots of seats not facing the pitch (the seats next to the corners). Personally I think it would look better if it was more rounded. Also you have to remember the reason for the 'wave' design is to maximise the seats in the best viewing positions.

This and the fact the mock-ups look so, so early stage (not even any renders of happy fans milling about FFS, I'm pretty sure we had those as far back as 2006) mean that this stadium is a long way from being built, if it will at all.

its kind of amusing...a couple of years back they were looking outside the city and being accused of abandoning it by their fans. now, theyve gone completely the other way to a dock side site

In industry parlance this would basically be pre-design fundraising layouts and elevations. Basically the product of you walking up to an architect and saying “I want a stadium” and that architect taking some stock-ish plans and very lightly tailoring that to a few ideas you have (like “I want Dortmund’s Wall”). It’s extremely unlikely that they’ve even gone as far as likely capacity based on transit, etc. and started shaping the stadium around that figure. They obviously haven’t considered the safe-standing issue, hence the current angle being the product of “let’s show how much closer to the pitch we’ll be than everyone else” and then just maximized that angle per H&S guidelines.

Relating it to my typical project schedule, it’s usually a year from the first phone call to actually beginning work on site and a further year to completion - and that’s if funding is in place. In that process, where Everton are is about week 6 of 104. I think moving in any time before 2025 would be very optimistic.
