Yeah, I watched a few guys installing glass panels the other day, they were walking about on top of them....it takes a special mentality to do that shit...

The roof work is surprisingly simple ... just bolting in sections ... at ground or low level you could do 100 a day no problem ... that's two 24 hour teams doing one ever half hour ... obviously lifting sections 100m above ground to guys balancing on beams is a bit harder ... but one an hour should still be easy ... two teams 40 a day job done in 20 days, as they've still got 80 days to play with don't see a problem ....

They've been doing that throughout the build, it's nothing new to the roof install.

Yeah I guessed they were ramping up the staff and installation in line with what they need/have, just don’t know how easy it is to get these type of construction workers.

Roof cassette installation started about a month ago so you would have thought advertising would have started then?

I’m going to listen to you and BangkokSpud BangkokSpud anyway.
You both don’t seem overly concerned by the timescales and have more knowledge about it than me.

Few things to look at here, how much the Sky bridge drops down when the final bridge is added, that fucker was heavy...The other thing is how quickly they're putting up those cassettes by the end of the week. They seem to have a dodgy backplate on the South stand as the fixings for the steel work were sheared off...

It's a fancy name for a roof panel. They've basically been prefabricated in a factory and have all the elements that are needed in one piece, such as insulation, soundproofing etc, and are designed to interlock easily with each other.

The roof is made up of lots of individual rectangles installed one at a time, which are called cassettes. Just like massive roof tiles.

Many many thanks to both of you...and no mocking either which I fully expected...I doff my cap and tug my forelock in appreciation.

Can I ask: do you have a background in construction or summat? Your posts in this thread are always knowledgeable and insightful.

It's the modern way of building, they have floor and wall cassettes these days too, they can chuck up buildings in no time with no messy insulation to worry about.
The university I work for threw up a shit ton of dorms in no time at all thanks to this a few years back. Module rooms slapped together like Tetris with cassette walls and roof. Basically all the heavy lifting was doing the electricity, plumbing and water lines and such.

No, I'm just really good at bluffing, I've picked up a lot of stuff this last year, mainly from googling everything mentioned on the SkyScraperCity forum...

Well if that's a case...you're a fraud lol! But seriously your posts are great and enjoyable to read with lots of great knowledge. POTY? Poster of the yearvote for me! :tobyarm:
Do we have any professional builders or architects here who could clarify if the stadium will be ready for August or September?

Ps ArtyB ArtyB as you're clearly well clever can you explain why my Netflix always freezes around the ten min Mark when watching daredevil? It's fecking annoying!
:sonpoint:

sais it elsewhere, im more worried about the retracting pitch system than the roof. simply cos a separating retractable pitch has never been done to this scale (AFAIK)
