Stadium New Stadium

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Some stadium ITK for you.
Mate if mine from uni works at a firm who are one of the main contractors on the new stadium project. Says that's it's hugely unlikely they'll be ready to open by August but none or the suppliers want to be the first one to tell the club that something they are responsible for won't be delivered on time. It's basically a stalemate but eventually someone will need to do it.

Not the news anyone was hoping for, but perhaps no huge surprise. Let’s hope that your mate is knee jerking but if not we probably have a few games we can play away with the good grace of the PL. (Fat chance)

I'm no expert Jimmy, and I'm not doubting your anecdote, but I'd be surprised if the club 'was waiting to be told' whether or not the build was on time or not.
On a £1b build, they'll have a Gantt chart or two, with monthly, weekly, daily milestones - I'd imagine..... and multi-million pound contractors don't "not want to be the first ones to tell" - like some kind of naughty schoolboy in the playground.
As others have mentioned, there's been 101 things put in place (ticket sales etc) that indicate it will be done (enough at least to allow a first home match in September).
I'm staying optimistic.

True But that does really on accurate estimates being inputted into that chart. Probably as far as the club are concerned they have people telling them all is on schedule but much of what they are doing is totally new territory, so there's a lot of shit that they can't really accurately predict. He couldn't really say if we'd make it for the new season but he was highly doubtful it would be done in time for the scheduled test events.

Some more pictures from the big day...
Note that there's about another two foot of soil to still go on top of that sand.

The scheduled test events will not take place until the stadium is fit for purpose - that is why no date has been set yet:levystare:

OK...hold the presses it's not an SIS pitch...

From SSC...
"Not sure where the SIS pitch rumours are coming from. The NWHL pitch is going to be a Desso system (Desso Grassmaster or Desso Playmaster). Spurs have had a Desso Grassmaster pitch at WHL since 2002. They've also installed it at the training lodge including on the test rig of the sliding pitch and this is a photo of the backing ready for dispatch:

All of the high specification GrassMaster pitches installed at Tottenham have been completed by Hewitt Sportsturf (Leicester), one of GrassMaster's approved contractors in the UK."

Not an expert but surely the main thing is to pass the safety checks in August and get a licence to play even if it means not everything is finished. We have played before with building work going on and as long as deemed safe then we should be able to play there even with a limited capacity. It does mean that the uncertainty will prevail into August.

The retractable pitch is one of the biggest 'new territory' that the stadium has - but that seemed to work well on its first public outing. Still more to be done on the pitch but it now looks plain sailing relatively speaking.

The roof seemed to be going up slowly, but the rate at which the cassettes are being installed seems to have accelerated in the last week, and if they keep up that rate, it looks as if that will be completed before the test events in August - biggest risk on that could be weather and high winds in particular.

The south stand seems to be coming on nicely and finishing the glasswork to make it watertight can be done in a few weeks - month at the outside.

The external work is coming along nicely with most of the steps etc already in place - I guess that not all the external cladding will be completed before the stadium opens, but that's purely cosmetic, and similarly other non essential things.

Lots of itk to say that the interiors are all but complete, although some of the boxes are yet to be completed (maybe owners haven't made their mind up on interiors) but that kind of stuff is usually made off premises so its just fitting time which is weeks or a month or so.

So it looks as if everything necessary to get a safety certificate to open can be done in time - provided the weather hold up and there aren't unforeseen delays on deliveries or new problems which cannot be solved. Its not a done deal, which is probably why Spurs have not yet released test event dates, but equally I doubt if anyone has information saying something cannot be done - penalties in contracts for not performing them mean that sub contractors should be doing everything possible to ensure things get done and will be in frequent dialogue with Mace to confirm things are being dealt with

On a contract of this value the penalties will be obscene ... rather than 'staying quiet' any contractor at risk of late finishing will be screaming at the top of his voice to get help, or to have his penalties eased ... been there done that ... staying quiet in a large time sensitive construction project is just a big no ...
With absolutely zero first hand knowledge from a purely observational viewpoint, and that's limited to internet videos and photos, it looks like an incredibly well organised site where time is not yet an issue ... first light is about 4:30 but most crews are not to be seen until 8am ... today (like most Sundays) nearly all the external workers are off ... believe me if they didn't think the project was 'on time' which may be September for all we know, then this place would look like an ant-heap 24-7 ...

Watching those pitch section move out and then in is just incredible, that's about 7,000 tonnes or put another way 5,000 family cars ....
