Match Newcastle Away 1.30pm Sunday Sept 1

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

And Newcastle fans could say well if Botman was fit the own goal didn’t happen. Or this, or that etc..

We should, as a club, be able to cope with some injury set backs.

Of course, there’s no excuse for this result. We gave two horrendous goals away and wasted countless chances to score. The players out there should have killed the game.

But obviously having no strikers available is a bigger challenge than having to play your 3rd CB.

Sure but they’ve got a first choice right back (who was absolutely key last season) on the bench as he wants out, they’ve got Dan fucking Burn starting and they’re turning to Jacob Murphy off the bench.

And they had a terrible non entity of a transfer window because they couldn’t spend. Compared to that, us having VDV out and playing Dragusin (who was brilliant) and not having a natural striker doesn’t seem all that bad.

Son can fill in well at striker. I don’t get the first half Kulu experiment at all, he can’t do it and never will.

Bollox has it. we went from finishing 8th to finishing 5th.

We went from having a decrepid old squad to a refreshed young squad.

The line is going up but everyone panics everytime it dips and clings onto the issues more than the solutions. Perfect example being set pieces. Massively improved set pieces at both ends but because we conceded our first counter attack goal of the season in gameday 3, that's what they will fixate on.

I saw nothing but melting by fans going into this one. Newcastle away, we usually get battered here, no fit striker, no VDV blah blah blah.

We then actually go there, dominate and (let's be honest) are unlucky to lose. And it's world war 3.

That’s to be expected, playing well and still losing is going to upset people. There is nothing worse than losing games.

When you win you are good when you lose you are shit.

A frustrating loss, to take the positives it was frustrating because we dominated and should’ve won. There was a lot of good play today, we just seem to come unstuck at the final pass.

Hopefully Solanke is back after this rather timely international break.

We need to be working hard on the training ground in breaking down a flat defensive 8 as I expect this tactic will be used against us a lot this season.

I thought Dragusin played well, and Bissouma was impressive in midfield.

Having two quality wingers is a must in this system , trouble is , we haven't got them

It's more about chemistry and rhythm for me.

We need players who are in tune with each other and know how to time runs and who they can expect to make what pass.

Brennan was actually outstanding when he came on but not once did anyone get to the back post. Odobert playing RW should be there to tap in Son's cross in the first half but he's just arrived and hasn't build the chemistry with Son to be there. We need Solanke to stay fit and we need a settled front 3 and reliable rotation behind it.
