Match Newcastle Away 1.30pm Sunday Sept 1

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think this is just part of the growth. Overall a good performance. Last two times there we got absolutely blitzed and crumbled. Today we dominated them but weren’t ruthless and had some lapses defensively. We’ll be ok. Trust the process.

Yeah massive improvement on last season, Newcastle played the exact same tactics against us.
But this time we pressed very hard when we lost it, squeezed isak and Gordon and controlled the game better.

Disappointed with result but last 2 games up there have been a real embarrassment.
Truss the process indeed :paraticiwink:

Onto the United game

Laughable...apparently we dominated that game..
That says it all imo, dominated a Newcastle side who have signed nobody..and still we don't have the ability or quality to win ...pathetic performance to go with the piss poor transfer window...not one player we bought improves this team, again they are just more of the same 2nd rate players at best..we just have a few more of them now......pathetic

Our attack often seems way too predictable, lacking the incisiveness and creativity needed to unsettle well-organized defences. The attackers need to perform way more directly with defence splitting movement off the ball, watching the defensive movement carefully so they can perform well-timed, coordinated runs into dangerous pockets of space in line with the defence.

What we're totally lacking at the moment is intelligent movement from the forwards but also vision and precision from our creative players on the ball. Madders doesn't seem to be offering this at all. As a playmaker he should be anticipating runs but also through his body language on the ball communicating to the attackers where he might pop the ball through on goal!

It's shit in here innit?

Some of us enjoy the wins, everyone turns up for the losses and repetitively types the same shit about how it's the end of the world and all our players are shit.

It's not the end of the world and all our players aren't shit. We aren't in a title race, we are in exactly the same place we are every year, 4-8th and we have a great chance at Europa with some exciting young talent.

That's what this club is under these owners, I don't really get why people are expecting any different. At least the football gets your heart rate pumping.
Yeah don't get me wrong was extremely frustrating.

But going to st.james park on back to back thrashings

We completely dominated them and should have got something from the game.

No doubt if we won the way they did. Posters would be screaming to dominate the ball and be on the front foot.

Would be interesting to know how many goals we've conceded that have come from initial throw ins.

Both today. I remember a fair few last season. Leicester too, no?

The toxicity on the forum today, while predictable, is completely unwarranted.

We missed a bagful of chances, having utterly dominated the opposition in their stadium, particularly in the second half. Shit happens.

There is a reason we bought Solanke, and his absence today highlighted that reason.

I'm still confident that we'll have a good season.
Got to disagree with you here.
The toxicity is definitely understandable.

Everyone, including the dogs on the street knows Richarlison is not the answer or ever will be, he cannot stay fit and we should have been more ruthless in the summer and sent him packing it at very least let him know he wasn't in future plans.

Yes, we missed a bag full, but still look like getting cut open so easily against any half decent team, sounds familiar eh, because it's the same as last yr. You may say Shit happens, but a manager should be willing to adjust his approach to help rectify this and so far we have seen no sign of this. This is not the Scottish premiership, a virtual two horse race where you are on the strongest horse, this is the premiership, we don't have the best team and should be willing to cut our cloth accordingly.

Thought Ange was poor again today, moving Romero to the left was not the best idea, his late subs were poor again, Werner being totally ineffective.
Feel for him a bit, as St James is probably somewhere you wanted some experience off the bench, and Bentancur aside we are relying on kids and will be going forward.

Newcastle away is a tough assignment and it ain't the end of the world, but a poor result against Scum and pressure will mount and we all know how trigger happy Levy is when he wants blame diverted from him to his latest managerial sacrifice.

We had an attack near the end when Johnson was busting down the right and crossed the ball only to see Sonny hold his run up and stay at the top of the box :ange-facepalm2:

It’s like the individual players on our forward line don’t really know what the others will do when they have the ball, and it ends up with the ball being held up or a pass to no one or a defender who clears easily. Have to hope it’s just a case of having a more settled front 3 with Solanke busting a lung to get in the box.

Without trying to be a melt , no I don’t see it happening , we have some good players but as a team there is just something missing - it’s not just a players issue either , I think part of it is a mentality issue.
I’d love to be proved wrong but I don’t think a fit Solanke and Richie suddenly changes things , maybe we just need to be patient and hope some of the young players turn into quality, still for a club so rich and financially sound I’d like to have seen us with a good mix of experience to help the youth out.
That I agree with. I was disappointed with this transfer window, relying way too much on the youngsters and it feels like the summer without incomings.

For me I see a long term issue as well sadly. The chances just are not being created. There are a few decent passing movements and it looks fluid sometimes. Its okayish football. It certainly doesnt help that Ange can be irritating in the media and hyping himself up without big credentials…

Progress is never a straight line and the result today is perfect reflection of where this team is at this stage in it's development.

A few steps down the line in the development and we probably score 3 or 4 in that second half but right now we are still not clicking in the final 3rd and the striker we signed to make us more coherent obviously has a fucking injury because this is Spurs and we can't have nice things.

We put balls across the goal , literally at tap in distance on a regular basis . I cannot believe Ange is not saying get your boney asses in there . Our players seem incapable of being where they should be , or incapable of getting there
