I'd like to share your optimism but 2021 wasn't all that different to our current state. We could've more heavily pursued Ten Hag or Potter back then, both which would've been a better fit than Conte.

Overall our squad is probably in a better place, but we still have some gaping holes that we somehow didn't manage to fill over the last 2 years

Potter was only in his 2nd year as Brighton manager
Ten Hag had just signed a new contract
The the rest of the candidates ranged from managers that didn't fit the philosophy or just plain old crap

This Summer Nagglesmann is free, Poch is free, Amorim and the Feyenoord coach shouldn't be a problem then you have the Porto coach, Luis Enrique, Schmidt etc...There's just way more options now.

Not true. ten Hag had not signed a new contract when we interviewed him. He was available, he was interested in the role, and he should have been appointed. Levy and Steve Hitchen or whatever chump it was that spoke to him apparently had “reservations” about him, we dithered and he activated a two year extension in his Ajax contract.

Irrelevant really now I know, but that’s the truth of it.

Okay fine, he was available and we messed up on that one.

Point still stands though, there weren't many good managers on the market back then.

Nagelsmann can shampoo my balls if he demands Top 4 to join.

He’s about nine fucking years old. A manager that wants patience from a club should extend it in return.

From our perspective as Spurs fans I understand that. But take into consideration that some big clubs may need new managers in the summer. He may own a Spurs shirt and have a liking of the club which is great but if he were to agree to join now and then turns up in May with us out of the top four and Kane wanting out he'd probably be regretting it already.

Fair point.

It’s going to be a free for all this summer though, with potentially the Real Madrid, PSG and Chelsea jobs all available.

It’s going to be extremely tough to get one of the top names, especially if we fail to get Champions League.

I'm pretty sure the Ten Hag deal came after our negotiations but I could be wrong, not that it really matters now.

You're right in saying that there is a surplus of managers available, I just don't have a lot of confidence in us getting in right, or acting with any semblance of urgency

Very much doubt Boehly will sack Potter

PSG and Real jobs are the most high profile although I reckon we will probably see Zidane come back this Summer or one of them IMO.

What’s the story with nagelsmanns missus?
Did she not leak his info to the media or something?
I think that’s probably bollocks, but there’s definitely something gone on there. The fact they broke up this week too.

Bayern’s the sort of club where you probably have to lower your eyes when Oliver Kahn enters the room. Nagelsmann dresses like a mafia hitman and is obviously a cocky prick.

I think his face simply didn’t fit.

Stellini and Mason to the end of the season strongly suggests IMO that Nagelsmann will come on the condition they deliver top four. And the board believe seeing the season out without Conte gives us a better chance of that than keeping him in his post. If they can't then we move onto Poch and anyone below him in the preference order.
I think CL with a new squad can be a hindrance for a new coach as there’s less time on the training pitch, more injuries and time in recovery. I think it’s different to players. A season playing the youth and reserves in europa might be ok

Surely nothing stops him signing a contract now with a starting date at the end on the season.

.......Other than him having no immediate need to rush a decision (having been stiffed by BM only days ago) and it being nothing more than rumour that he's even interested?

Nothing other than that, no.

He sounds like Steve McLaren.

We haven't had an English speaker as good as that since probably Hoddle! 😃

I'm no zenophobe, but it would be lovely to have a break from the mumbly, stumbly press conferences of Conte, Nuno, Jose & Poch where they talk in soundbites, riddles and catchprases.
