For Poch to work we need a clear out.

PSG was an uncoachable group. Impossible to get much when you have Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe that don't want to do anything out of possession. They have a very comfortable player power thing going nin that dressing room.

We see the same thing every week with senior players that know a "Heirarchy" has been established and they will play shit and still get picked.
That's something that Gallardo would put an end to right away. He was ruthless at River and the player name meant nothing. He would often play a youngster, if the senior player wasn't performing or if the match required that. And on top of that he still managed to keep everyone on the same page.

maybe Brighton will take a chance on him when we poach Di Zerbi in the summer, and then when we sack Di Zebri in 18 months we can go from him then

Is everyone here against hiring Potter in the summer? Things went so poorly for him at Chelsea, but he did do good things at Brighton.

I'd rather hire Poch but you got to think Potter isn't that far behind when we think of potential manager's.

The match going fans won’t give Slot a chance. They’ll be “who?” We aren’t the same club that appointed Poch. The stadium has made it impossible to have a project coach. The mindset is now, we pay the highest ticket prices, we want to win and want to be entertained. It needs to be a recognisable name for them to be given a chance. Whether that’s Poch, potter, rodgers, Nagelsmann, Enrique or even Frank. They’ll want a name in order for him to be given a chance.
Well, in that case the fans should shut up and not complain if going once again down the "proven manager" path doesn't improve us. If Liverpool and Woolwich can fall back to a project approach, then so can we.

Poch had 221 games under his belt, for 2 teams in 2 countries over 5.5 years by the time we gave him a job. He'd also played almost 600 games in 4 different countries for top tier teams, and was coached (and coached on how to coach) by renowned tactician Bielsa

Arne Slot was born yesterday in comparison. Lived his whole life in Holland, played in lower leagues in Holland, 2/3's of his very short coaching career at his current club.
He's not a project manager, he's a gamble. If he's fit for the job, then literally every coach who has done well in any league in the world in their first 150 games is also fit for the job.

You can't compare the 2.

As for match going fans, I will give anyone a chance if they know what they're doing. Most fans can tell.

I just want a manager to come in whose philosophy is front foot, attacking, entertaining football whatever you want to call it. I wouldn't be disappointed as such if Poch returned, far from it, but I'd rather a fresh face. We've had what, 3/4 years or so of this largely horrible, defensive football to endure? I have zero expectations of a trophy, certainly these days, but I just want to actually WANT to watch Spurs play again, that's all.

This is all well and good, but our players aren't up to it. A coach can wave his finger and say "thou shalt attack"
But if our coward team come under a tiny amount of pressure, they'll resort to dropping deep, humping the ball up field and dropping deeper as it comes back again.

Sadly there are still some who think Potter isn't over rated.
Left Swansea after finishing 10th - Cooper got them 6th then 4th
Left Brighton unable to score, now they score for fun
Leaves Chelsea in the bottom half of the league - even Fwank will get them back up to top 7 IMO

Is he being serious, or is this a West Ham ruse?

"Now, the former Liverpool coach has been backed by a Premier League player.
Speaking to The Footballer’s Football Podcast, West Ham forward Michail Antonio said: “I think that would be unbelievable.
“Spurs like to play football, they like to play tight-knit football. They’ve got Harry Kane who drops in, they’ve got Son [Heung-min] to hit edges. I swear to you, it would work. It would definitely work.”

This is crazy I know, but why don't we appoint someone that's on the up, rather than always going for the bloke that's been recently sacked?

I know it's a totally insane idea

Although I know you're saying this tongue in cheek, Brighton is unlikely to get him. He'll have offers from bigger teams. This is someone who was linked with Barca a few years ago. I could see Atletico pursuing him, if Simeone leaves and I'm sure he'd take that gig over Brighton. It was reported Leeds wanted him earlier this season and he turned them down. He may have not coached in Europe, but he is still regarded as an elite coach by most.

There are more criteria to hiring a manager than that. There are more good managers than managerial positions in stronger leagues. Sure the ones who get a chance at these managerial positions have an advantage, but that doesn't mean that they're the only talented ones out there.

It's a general oversimplification to think that De Zerbi would work here, Brighton just have the perfect football culture that any manager could potentially go into and do well, can't say the same for Spurs.

I have to say I don’t think this is true at all. The minute we show some attacking intent from the off a new manager would be welcome. The ‘match going fans’ have sat through 4 years of a defensive mindset
