Loads of full games here coached by Slot if anybody want to have a look. Went through a few last night, I don't dislike the idea of him being our next coach tbh, but there's obvious concerns about the level of dutch league, translation of playing style, and suitability of newly purchased players for his style. Udogie, Porro in particular, not sure if they'd be of any use to him.

Agree his achievement , whilst great, is in a three team league similar to Scotland.
If he gets the job, we wish him well, but it's going to be tough for him I think.

I thought it might be because he’s been at Spurs longer than almost every other senior player and can speak to the culture of the club from youth development through the first team not to say anything regarding his primary language being English which would be advantageous.
But, now, come to think of it, it’s obviously because he’s white.
The problems with Lloris, Kane, Dier, PEH, Skipp being the officially designated leadership group at the club are almost too many to mention, but the racial aspect feels pretty hard to ignore, IMO.

For that and other reasons why on earth isn't Sonny in that group?

Literally the only players of Northern European heritage who are permanent members of the squad who AREN'T in that leadership council are Ben Davies, Fraser Forster and Alfie Whiteman.

That's ridiculous and there's no way that's unnoticed by the other players.

Being Mr. Social Justice Warrior isn't my politics at all, but come on, that's impossible to ignore, and again, just one of a dozen reasons why that leadership group is an obvious problem that should be broken up immediately.

Must have a sporting director and new coach in mind when season ends. Unless our board havent got a clue cos of their rigid demands. I reckon it's the latter. Hearing dier getting a new contract really concerns me with how were run tbh.
They haven’t got a clue. Been over 50 days since Conte went and it was obvious he was off about a further 50 days prior, if not longer. No contingency, no planning whatsoever. Nothing learned from previous, recent fuck ups

Yet the club have the audacity to charge one of highest ticket prices in world football. Need fresh ideas and bigger investment and stop over relying on loyalty of fans. 50 days this saga has dragged on. An absolute joke.

Unless we hired an out of work manager, Poch, Nagelsmann or Big Sam, this was always going to go to the end of the season for absolutely obvious reasons. I honestly can’t see why anyone expects differently.

I doubt (but I may be wrong, of course) that Ancelotti will remain at Real M. after this trashing and not even winning La Liga. Real M. have even sacked head coaches who've won the CL and/or La Liga a few times...
But that may mean Ancelotti will be available

On the topic of the leadership group:
A players individual quality on the field should have absolutely 0 influence on if he is a good leader or not. That's some school yard/youth team shenanigans where you give the kid who is best at football the armband so you don't piss off their parents.

A leadership group should be consisting of the players that the squad as a whole feel most comfortable with representing them and who display the ability to lead.

You could be nailed to the bench and still hold a leadership role in a team.

I dont think their should be any leadership group. Think it could lead to cliques and favouritism. It should be manager and captain who are listened too and no one else. You can still have big voices but dividing up into groups is a bad idea.

I wanted to see Nagelsman or Poch to be appointed. Working down the list of potential candidates I now want Slot, seems like the majority of us do too, but I have little faith in Levy getting it right. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Slot decline what Levy offers and we have to go to Rodgers, the Celtic manager or Potter at a push.

These exist in all clubs and are usually how you avoid having cliques formed. It creates a clear hierarchy within the team. A new player knows who to turn to with any issue that they have and the council/committee takes it to the manager or directors if need be.

PSG are a great example of why these are needed. PSG's old leadership council of Zlatan, Silva, Cavani, Veratti and I believe Thiago Motta kept that locker room in check and pulling in one direction. And ever since they started selling off those players or losing them to retirement there has been an increase in drama, in fighting and cliques being formed inside the dressing room.

But 'No DNA' doesn’t equal trophies. I can't stand watching us lose games without showing any intent. It would be easier to stomach if we were willing to die on the sword
I agree. Playing style is getting confused with DNA. For the last 20 years our DNA has been to be proud of ending up in top 4, being above Woolwich on the log and increasing our real estate portfolio.

Both Conté and José had Us scoring more goals than we did in years and they were called pragmatic and anti-football. I want that DNA. The DNA I don't want, is resigning Eric Dier. Buying players the manager doesn't want to play. I don't want Levy DNA. I'd gladly take one in the chin if we have any manager, even Nuno, having players willing to leave Blood on the pitch at every game.

Ridiculous, and frankly looks like more of a projection by you than anything else.

I was going to ask which non-white ethnic glaring omission there was from said 'leadership group' but if Sonny is your go to then that's not even a particularly good shout - while he's captain of Korea by default of being their best player he's never demonstrated leadership qualities on the pitch for Spurs that I've seen. I doubt you could suggest another player who is apparently being missed out due to this terrible and obvious case of profiling by the club.

I don't disagree with those who think Dier and Hojbjerg do a bit too much pointing and shouting rather than proper leading, but alas we're somewhat thin on the ground in terms of proper leaders. It seems generally that seniority in the squad has led to things being the way they are.

Skipp, according to Gold, was very vocal in the dressing room recently and obviously has the experience of coming through the academy (multiple managers have also said he's future captain material).
