Mason suggests Spurs manager search is holding up transfer plans
Tottenham interim boss Ryan Mason:

"There is work [to do] because we have a big squad, a lot of players on loan and decisions to make. First a lot of decisions to make about the current squad.

"You can't do transfer business without a manager because it might not fit his idea. We need an idea of what we want to do, stick to it and ultimately recruit players.

"If you want to be a successful football club on the pitch then everyone working for the organisation needs to be on board of what we are and who we are. When you have an idea of that, when people leave, it's easier for people to come in and it's a lot more fluid."

Maybe Levy will listen to Mason. Maybe Mason needs to be made special advisor to the emporer

We're that scary to work for.

The scary part here, is it would be far from Levys biggest mistake.
Taking a punt on AVN, who was obviously terrible st Chelsea. Sacking Jol at HT and getting a pot plant in without the pot (the DoF from Seville who was key to Ramos success)
Not backing Redknapp or Poch when real success was so close. Sacking serial winner Jose a week before a cup final.
Spending 70 days trying to replace him and ending up with quite possibly the least inspired choice anyone could ever have come up with.

By those standards, a summer of Rodgers, Maddison and Tielnmans is like watching the sun come up on a beautiful day.

Of course, we'll probably find some homeless bum from the general Tottenham area, shave and wash him, create a back story that he's a football genius and hope he can get a tune out of our relegation fodder squad.

Well they essentially did that last year. Couldn't find anyone for the job and the players were due back in just a few days, so they panic-hired Nuno.

It's no wonder that a manager like Slot looks at us and says "Pochettino couldn't finish the job there. Mourinho couldn't win there. Conte couldn't win there. Why would I choose that job?"

If you're an up and comer like Slot is, the next move you make is going to be critical. It will put you in the top class of managers, if you are a big success.

The most important decision of your career - are you going to bet your career aspirations on making a relationship with Daniel Levy work where three consecutive top coaches could not?

I've had the chance to spend time with him a few times and he absolutely knows what he is doing. He wasn't letting Potter make a single player recruiment decision.

Potters CV is basically:
7ish years with a Swedish team. An impressive rise through the leagues. With a chairman convicted of fraud and dodgy accounting. Twice. In a country which, at the time, was absolutely rife with match fixing. Which is clearly speculation, but the dots are there.

A mediocre season with Swansea.

Improving Brighton from the Hughton version (but being shown by the next guy up that the ceiling was higher).

Chavs disaster.

I said this last time (when we appointed Paratici) and it turned out to be the case I think, but maybe what’s happening right now is Levy/Munn are concentrating more on getting the DOF appointment sorted out, and then including him in the head coach consultation process.

All the noise about managers, is probably mostly just that.

Would really help if Levy/Munn communicated with the fans/media about the process. The communication vacuum just creates a bullshit vortex.

In fairness Base did such a great job in January, negotiating with (just let me check, ah yes!) Base, for 31 days, softening them up for Levy to swoop in and take over on the final day and heroically overpay on Porro's release clause, that I'm sure we can't help but want to work with them again...

We have a long history working with Base and still have some of their players at the club. Levy doesn't care.

Just renewed season tickets , I knew I would give in eventually . So next season we will be managed by one of Crocodile Dundee , Brenton or Mason by the looks of things . This might be the worst investment I have ever made , at least when investing before I thought it might work out. I knew this was a terrible decision I will regret as I did it
