Lack of English doesn't concern me. He'll get up to speed.

I haven't watched much River games, but he is a manager that:
  1. Adapts the style to the players he has and the opponent he is facing
  2. Is excellent at in-game management
  3. Doesn't care about established names and would play a youngster over a star based on merit
  4. Fielded competitive teams, even though every year he lost his best players
  5. Very few managers in world football are better at preparing their players for big games
  6. Will take the cups seriously
  7. Is adored by his players and the fans
  8. Built an identity at River that everyone got behind
I think all of the above would suit us quite nicely.
Plus 14 titles in 8 years

How many pages did a similar thread reach in the Nuno summer?

If this thing reaches 1000 pages, it will feel like the worst sarcastic joke on the state of our club ever!

Oh you were being serious.. so I'm stupid and naive.

Who's a better manager, Ange or Nagelsmann?

Ange or Luis Enrique?

Ange or Poch?
This post managed to avoid the "stupid" moniker, but is replying to the wrong thing. The point was that Harry can find out more about Ange (and the things that matter, too) with a few phone calls than we can by collectively poring over everything written on the internet about him. The point was never that Ange is definitely a better manager than X, Y, or Z.

Do keep up, will you?

No, for the umpteenth time Matt1882 .

Tail end of last season they got 17 pts from 8 matches.

Wins at Goons, Us, Wolves.

4-0 v United; 3-1 Spam.

Last one they lost, v Citeh.

Combine that with their form before Potter left, that's top 4 over 38 matches, no question.

Scoring for fun too.

I get that you don't rate Potter but you don't need to fiddle the stats to bolster your case.

14 matches is easily enough to identify a sustainable trend. 10 matches is the usual yardstick, hence the saying "Every manager is only 10 matches from the sack"
Conte over 14 matches was a title winner.

For me the manager has to be

1 be positive person, someone who like Jol or Poch can offset the weird negative Levy vibe at the club. So no Brendan Rogers.

2 have a positive balls out attacking style of football. Can be Pepball or Kloppball but something to excite.

3 can work with shit. Don’t want a manager used to getting what he needs, doesn’t happen with us, needs to be able to develop and mould at a elite level which Jose and Conte where deficient at.

These I think are the prerequisites of any attempt at success.

Why are we slaughtering Ange as if he’s a shit manager? Imagine Man Utd not taking a chance on Fergie all those years ago? Managing and coaching doesn’t change in terms of what he’d implement. He will be dealing with better players too. For anybody to say he’s a shit manager and a shit coach is just ignorant and lazy. Some people on here will think Mason is a better manager or coach than him which is fucking ludicrous. Managing Celtic is massive and if you don’t win every game with style and comfortably you get slaughtered. He deals with that pressure every week and he’s very impressive in how he does it. He’s takes no shit from anyone and everyone knows where they stand with him. He has transformed how they play and look like they’ll dominate for a while yet.
I’m not saying I’m dying for him to be our manager but if he is going to be there are so many out there that will be worse than him.
So...the only similarity between Ferguson and Ange is that they both managed in the Scottish League. While Ange has won with Celtic. Ferguson won with Aberdeen. Before Ferguson, Celtic and Rangers used to win the Scottish Leagues. And after he left...Celtic and Rangers continued winning the League.

There is absolutely no comparison. Managing Celtic or Rangers is like managing PSG. Winning the league isnt that big a deal. In Europe however Ange's Celtic got 2 points out of 18. We wont have squad superiority in the PL like he has in Scotland, so all he does there will not translate here that easily.

I wonder what previous Scottish league winners are doing nowadays? Gerard , Neil Lennon, Rodgers? At least Rodgers has premier league experience. Ange is a complete nobody.

You missed out Brisbane Roar - Champions, Melbourne Victory - Champions, Yokohama -Champions, the Australian national side-Asian Champions.

Something, something agenda

Oh boy those sure are some top level credentials.

I’m sure if Woolwich or Chelsea hired him you’d be here banging on about how he’s actually really good because he won the league with Melbourne Victory.

My god you're condescending.

So I'm Naive in thinking that Ange might not be a good appointment, considering who else is and was available?

Are you not naive in thinking this so called Harry kane phone conversation about Ange would only be of positive things and nothing negative?

Could easily have gone on the lines of.. he's done well wherever he has been, but still unproven at the highest level.

Lens might have finished 2nd, but their underlying numbers show that a lot of luck was involved in that (4th or 5th was probably the more deserved position for them). Not saying he's not good. He did finish 7th and 8th with them since they came up, which is a great achievement. Beyond that, I know fuck all about him.

Just had a quick look, and their xpts has them 4th, 6pts behind PSG.

Either way, having watched them, they are pretty proactive, very aggressive side.

Another guy who I think should be considered is Fonseca, who’s got Lille playing a very good brand of football.

Try again Billy no mates.

Trying so hard to be the smartest guy in the room when you're not even the smartest guy in your head...

Because I appear to be living in it rent free. 🤣
