He's not just a big name, he's a big name that wins trophies, there isn''t going to be backing to make it work for any manager, so might as well go for a successful one that has Levy's respect.

Issue is we argued that for Jose and Conte. These are elite managers that tend to work only with elite players. Poch is better at developing players, he might not be as good at other aspects but he is more suited to how we run things. That being said I want to take a more bold approach and like with Poch look for the next manager who can bring new ideas like Kompany or Gallardo.

If we had big money then Tuchel might make sense but we don’t.

Well Conte got us CL last season, Poch is just going to go through the same frustrations as he did before. It's not enough just to develop players, they have to compete for CL too. While we are developing players our rivals aren't just going to stand still. Kompany and Gallardo stand no chance of getting Levy's respect.

Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho wants to return to Stamford Bridge for a third spell. The Portuguese approached prospective new buyers when the club was up for sale. (GiveMesport)

Potter for spurs...dream

It may not be the physical issues of the surgery itself that affects him but the mental side of things.

I've had to have fairly minor surgery before, and at the end of it I found myself questioning my life, the hours I put into my education/job felt hollow, and I could never get rid of that feeling.
But it subsides and you slip back into old routines. Like people who have a heart attack, the majority change for a short period, then become a risk again… human nature is a bitch

Reports are coming out that Ancelotti will be the next Brazil manager.

Hopefully Madrid appoint Poch if that’s the case.

I hope they do too, if he finds success in Madrid it’s better for us once he inevitably comes back in the future

It also takes pressure off of Conte’s shoulders as the availability of Poch has been looming over this club and the fans all season
