We've tried that at least 4 times since Poch left. At some point you have to say enough is enough and change out the constants.
It seems that every time we swap out a manager, the hope is that they'll get a tune out of these players with a change of emphasis. The reality is that the constants need to be moved on. A change of emphasis doesn't work with these players, they're comfortable in the knowledge that, if they don't like the way the manager runs things, all they have to do is coast for long enough, then the manager will be moved on, giving them the opportunity to get their "clean slate," up their level enough to anchor that first team place again, then rinse and repeat.
Poch primarily got his success with young, hungry talent after moving on the constants.
We need to purge the old guard, get the hunger back in the side before the old guard attitude infects the young talent we do have.
We have senior players who have, quite frankly, given up on their desire to win. They had their opportunities and missed them. Consider the mindset of that Poch team with what we have now. The players wanted to make the opposition fear them, they went at them from the first whistle. When we went a goal down they never panicked, they knew they'd score and, more likely than not, go on to win the game. Now we go a goal down and you can see that belief is no longer there.
They spend more time telling us what they need to do than actually doing it.
We all know who they are and until they're gone, no coach will get that desire.
