The various managerial possibilities have all rattled around in my empty head enough now and have returned to my original wish, that we get Poch back.
1. He done a great job last time through a period where we were building the new stadium and therefore could not back him.
2. He organised us to play really good possession football with a strong midfield.
3. He has more experience now but is still relatively young so could be even better than before
4. He has a great affinity to our club and actually got on well with Levy
5 He did take us to the Champions League final. Ok he ballsed it up on the day by bringing Kane back too soon but none the less still a brilliant achievement
6 He would probably want to bring Winks back .. ah wait, fucking forget it

Loads of twitter noise about Kompany.

Still think it's bollox but maybe that Simon Davies guy is getting his way?

The way Kompany answered those questions came off as "someone has spoken to my agent but let's keep it professional for now".

I have a lot of reservations over Kompany but at least it would be a ballsy and brave move.

The absolute worst thing to do would be to go down the Nuno route and just appoint whoever's available, i.e. Rodgers or Potter

I agree with this. The risk is huge but maybe it’s what we need to do? We need to do something different now. If we are sat in mid table in 12 months time under him then maybe it’s time to reevaluate.

Plus if he comes in he’s probably automatically still the best centre back at the club!

Worrying that Kompany is destined for the City job isn’t too big a deal to me (I mean, people could say the same about Arteta?). If he came to us, then performed well enough to be viewed as Pep’s successor then surely that means we’ve also succeeded alongside him. And he ideally would’ve done so in such a way that another manager could come in after and build upon it further.

BUT In saying all that - I’m sick of having managers who view the job as beneath them. Def not saying Kompany is the type to think that, but it’s something we need to be careful to avoid.

They’ll go for arteta next. It seems the most logical move. I’m no way worried about the kompany possibility if he came.

If City want Kompany it will be because he's been unbelievably good for us.

The real issue is that anyone coming in will be expecting the boot as soon as they get some rough results.

If we do go the Kompany route, give him a 5-year contract and stick it out even if we miss out on Top 4 for a season. He's a young manager and that is definitely the risk.

If we accept Kompany Levy wins again.

He's basically taking us back to the 2005 / 06 Jol / Arnesen period.

Low wage bill, Europa League football, possibility of Champions League, entertaining football, jam tomorrow is coming soon.........

We just where very fucking unlucky. Worst thing was Chelsea getting no European football with one game a week specialist Conte and peak Hazard and Kante. Even if Chavs had gotten in Europa League convinced we would have won the title.
We possibly made a mistake not to target the Europa in 16-17. Getting knocked out by Genk was to target the league and FA Cup didn't work.

Who's your preference?
Pochettino.

He can unite the place.

I've been thinking Rodgers would be Levy's preference but my Mrs, who only has a passing interest in football, mainly due to listening to my crap for the last 33 years, saw Kompany's Burnley press conference, while we were eating our breakfast the other morning, and observed that he is going to get the Spurs job.

She hardly ever says anything about the football but she is quite shrewd at times.

I fear she may be right on this.

Kompany is an up and coming manager who plays good football and has experience in rebuilding a team and changing it's identity and philosophy in a short amount of time without needing to spend a lot of money.

Aren't these the things that we've been crying out for?

How well would you expect him to do in his first season?

Ignoring the up and coming part we have in effect four managers we are linked with who have done this. Naglesmann, Pochettino with us, Slot and Kompany. At the very least I think we have the right profile of manager this time.

My only concern is the reasons.

Good- If Kompany is being hired to provide a longer term Pep Inspired football style, building up young players, taking risk and being allowed to implement his idea on to the club long term as we transition to a modern football way of playing that will last even when he is gone. I am all for it.

Bad - If we are just getting him as flavour of the month big name to appease Levy and will sack him come the first bad run of results then I would rather we just cut our losses and get Pochettino back.
