How do we know that direction came from barber - we don't and I doubt it did. Neither of them would have the foggiest when it comes to literally revolutionizing the scouting and recruitment system.

But I reckon both are smart enough to know to trust those with the knowledge, and the whole set up at Brighton is special. The scouting system is extraordinarily visionary and even the likes of city are looking at it. I really can't see either barber or bloom having that kind of impact , maybe credit them for recruiting those who do/did ..

So do you trust levy to do the same....
You don't think the vision there came from the Chairman? Ok.

The rest of your post 100%, they won't have an idea of HOW, but they have set the requirements and brought in the right people to make it happen.

Do I trust Levy to do the same?

Let's just say the jury is out in that one. Only time will tell

People haven't settled on "wanting Slot"

They've settled on what we're likely to get.
There's a not very subtle difference

Yes and No.

We're defnitely not getting Nagelsmann, which I believe was first choice for many.

However there are still quite a few managerial options available that we COULD end up with. Slot is the best of those (for us) in my opinion.

So don't tell us what we think.

I would like Slot - he ticks the boxes for me. Progressive, attacking football - project manager. I'd have preferred Nagelsmann, but Slot is the next best thing and we should absolutely go for him.

Until the root cause (ENIC) is dealt with, it's all a moo point anyway.

Exactly!

De Zerbi is a hot topic right now. Doesn't mean what he does at Brighton would be the right fit for Spurs.

I like watching Brighton play, it's good for the prem. I hope he stays there at least another year.

De Zerbi is a choice that I am not 100%, he took over a Potter team that started great, was all set and has basically carried on but he hasn’t had to build anything just maintain it at a very well run club. Interesting that Brighton apparently had Gallardo and Postecoglou as their main targets and went for him afterwards. So if it’s Brighton we are after surely those two must come into frame.

Not sure it even makes sense to chase Brighton targets, players or managers. The targets they chase work in the environment of their club. They know what they are and how to recruit for it.

Gil and Sarr for example would probably be worth 90m each if they were at Brighton instead of Spurs. We need to figure out what the fuck we actually are before we start thinking about chasing targets.

We have had 23 years under ENIC to figure out what we are. The club sells football and yet doesn’t know what brand to play, it’s comical, even I know you need to pick a philosophy and embed it like everyone else does from Man City to Brighton if you want success.

Our board is all accountants and PR and they haven’t the first clue about the actual game itself. They are lucky we are fans, if we where customers only then the fanbase would be down the road at the scum.

Someone needs to put a sign in the boardroom saying ‘’what are we?’’ And it doesn’t come down till the club has fixed a plan whether that be some variation of Pepball or Kloppball we make a choice.

Fullback issue isn't a pressing issue for a good coach IMO. I get that I'm probably alone in that.

Those 3 big signings at GK, CB, 8/10 are HUGE. Probably a CB that also plays LB and convert Emerson into the same. Then maybe competition for Kulusevski that wants to press but that really could be Gil for at least next season.

I think we need depth and to shift a lot out the door.

3-4-3 with Nagelsmann makes more sense on paper I agree but it's not as far from Slot ball as many people think.
I agree with you on the idea, but we need far more than 3 big signings.

GK, the whole CB trident, a LB/LWB to compete with young Destiny, CM x 2 (a ballwinner and a more creative/attacking type), at least 2 wingers/FWD, a new cover for Harry...

That really is how poor our current squad is that we need so many new bodies in. And obviously that's testament to the utter shite work our decision-makers have been doing for years. I mean: Dier, Sanchez, Tanganga, Rodon, Sessegnon, Winks, Dombs, GLC, Moura, Richy...they all need to do one. I ain't that bothered about Romero, Perisic, Hojbjerg and Kulusevski either to be honest.

In my opinion, Nagelsmann told Spurs something along the lines of the above - just as Poch, Mourinho & Conte did before - and that's why they came out with that fucking lie saying they never were interested in him. Russ Williams said as much on LWOS.

Dan Dan & that cunt Donna are so up their own arse, they'll never admit they got it wrong. They'll just keep on blaming everybody else. I also think they're so clueless and delusional that they've convinced themselves our squad is actually well good and that all we need is a good coach and a couple cheap acquisitions. Which obviously would be terrific business for them...you get back into the CL without having spent a fortune. But it don't work like that...

I heard it was within the next 7-10 days
Hercules from SC, who as you all know is Tier Gold ITK, saying he has the official info from his source at the club re new manager. Done deal, he's got the deets on the contract and all the juicy stuff.

But he'll only be able to announce it on SC when the deal's been in the media so as to not burn his source.

Nice lad.

GK - yes
CB - Def 1 this summer and hopefully another
LB - not high priority with Davies and Udogie (let's see what happens with Perisic)
CM - If we can shift Hojberg then yes another 6. We need an 8/10 regardless
FWD - Depends on new manager and Son/Kane decisions. If Kane goes then the whole thing changes but most likely we sign 1 forward this summer.

That's a target of 4/5 in unless we get core members out.

`not really a drastic summer rebuild needed, more like a continuation of the rebuild. Biggest signings this summer are DOF and Manager. Munn could be if he actually persuades Levy to step away from football decisions.

Only time we knew what we were was under Poch.

That coach and all the upstairs decision-makers have since left. DOF and Manager are pivotal choices now.

Why lol? The fans don't make decisions, you should aim it at the board. Levy is ruthless with coaches and goes through them for fun, is that the fans fault? Even if we backed Slot through hard times, if Levy thinks we're nowhere near Europe & that will fuck us financially, he will sack him. Makes no difference if we happy clap or don't, the money is what the board care about.

Oh and Brighton have a much higher average level of technical ability. Not necessarily better all round footballers, but better technicians because this has been a prioritised trait. Our current squad of players could not play the football Brighton do, even if we hired De Zerbi and gave him 5 years. He'd need signings.
100%, that was a wee bit ridiculous and even insulting to say that about the fans.

Good post, well balanced, but I'd go slightly further, or off on a bit of a different tack...

I don't think our squad is half as bad as many think. The likes of Zomb who reckon that three-quarters of our players are utter shitcunts and should all be shipped out sharpish.

I think they are shot to bits in terms of confidence and self-esteem. I'd be interested to see what a good man manager could do with the popular scapegoats like Dier, Sánchez, PEH and so forth. With those underachieving - Son, Perisic, Kulu and so on. Even our misfits out on loan...

A mixture of arm around the shoulder and good tactical coaching could do wonders for them, at the very least any of the above - even Hugo - could be very decent squad players.

In that sense, I sort of don't mind who the next man is. I might not like Brendan Rogers but hey, what do I know? Like many of us, I couldn't stand Harry Redknapp before he came to us but I warmed to him when I saw what he did with a bunch of players who were drained of confidence. If Rogers or whoever it is can do that, they'll have my unconditional backing, for what that's worth.
Real lost this week but Bill won today

Trix has backed him up on this. They think they're really advanced (presumably with Slot based on the thread).
