Ok but Arteta who had zero managerial experience has just taken the scum to a few points away from winning the PL.

Would you be ok if we employ Carrick with a few months of championship football management experience?

Or you want the safe option of someone like Enrique, Rodgers, Potter or any other name with big league experience

He'd had decent experience coaching under one of the best coaches in the world for a few years, but yeah - no managerial record, and it was certainly a gamble. I reckon he was about 1 or 2 games away from the sack at the start of the 21/22 season... but he's come good.

I'd certainly take Enrique but not Rodgers or Potter. Enrique plays good football and his only real weakness seems to be scoring goals (as Spain manager) but Spain have really lacked top strikers for a whole.

Maybe Ange will make the step up. I do appreciate he has improved every side he's worked with - winning titles with unfancied teams. But I don't think Spurs can take a gamble on him right now, there is too much at stake if we fall out of regular European places.

My significant concern with Postecoglou is that the SPL simply can’t be taken as a realistic lodestar of what to expect. Brenda produced invincibles with Celtic.

It’s nice to hear Ange favours aggressive tactics but there’s a world of difference between doing that in Scotland when you’re in charge of a team that steamrolls everyone and us, with our cart horses that have spent four years being coached to be afraid of the ball.

Dont forget, Postecoglou was able to beat Partick Thistle and Dundee United without resorting to playing 11 men behind the ball. Truly a tactical visionary and someone we have to appoint immediately...

Spot on, and I think that's why it's so important to have someone dead-set committed to playing attacking modern football. If and when our next manager fails, they have to at least leave behind a setup that looks like less of an Allardyce-ian wasteland in technical terms.

That goes for the manager and sporting director. The situation was a horror show in Summer 2021. Little nibbles of progress have been made in terms of the overall squad ability level, though with major holes remaining and a bunker-and-pray mentality still deeply rooted.

Ange is an almighty risk but he would ATTEMPT to do the job the way it needs doing, and that's appealing, just as it was with Slot.

Wanted Ange 6 months ago. Nothings changed. High profile manager does not mean the best manager. Jose and Conte stole a living being our manager, bitched and moaned and thought they were doing us a favour. Would take 8th but see soke great front foot football and player development. Honestly haven't been able to watch us. I never miss watching a game but this season I have happily taken it or left it. Don't feel any connection with the club at the minute. Nagglesmann is no more proven in world football than Ange.

Ange will give everything to the job. Put the supporters first and play a great brand of football. Honestly can't take anymore of these so called Elite tossers

I want Nagelsmann too. My first choice — mostly for his work prior to Bayern.
With respect to the City Group, I was really referring to how they run their operations rather than their footballing philosophy. I think if you get that right then the latter can more easily be changed.

Yeah agreed.

They will have to move on from Pep eventually but they run a tight ship so the new guy will have foundations underneath them.

what like do a Leeds? We might have less chance of a trophy (less than 2 in 30yrs)?
Brighton have done alright without European football - just implement a good plan and infrastructure.
We’ve been at the top table for a quite a long time now and done fuck all with it. We’ve not gambled and that’s been the problem - conte and Jose are/were sure things and they’ve failed. Now is the time to gamble, change things.

Has nothing to do with playing in Scotland, against Real Madrid in Champions League he went eyeballs out - Celtic were better team for 60 mins, depth of squad and class told in the end. But this guy never takes a backward step

Part of the reason I fell in love with Spurs was the footballing philosophy. I’m not from the area, I have no family ties to the club, but this desire to play the game the right way was a massive pull. It set us apart from the one nil brigade. We must never lose that. Never take a backward step. Big Ange is certainly the man for that. The stain of Graham, Mourinho, et al. Let’s get back to what sets us apart.

Which is great.

But our squad might need someone that can do both. That can recognise their limitations and slowly develop the style he wants.

That’s the art. And it’s damn difficult to do in a league as competitive as the PL.
