Really have missed the boat on this one though.
Top of the table, won 10 drawn 4 of 14.
They'll come up and he'll want to have a season with them.
Maybe, was my choice from the start and original poll tbh, was clear we needed a rebuild at the time, he knows and loves the club, is experienced with our academy, role model professional, all his teams try to play with the style I think we all miss etc.

I'd hope we'd already been sounding him out, but sure he wasn't a big enough name for some and 'Fulham got relegated'.

We are a massive club that he apparently loves, if we can't get a manager and ex-captain away from Bournemouth what's the fucking point really?!

Will be harder to tempt him away if/when they come up, but he's always been a favourite of mine. Would give anything for a player like him in the team now tbh.

im more interested seeing how he does with them when they come up, fulham relegated twice if he keeps bournemouth up thats the biggest indicator for me as managers learn their faults
Staying up with one of the regular yo-yo clubs doesn't mean much, it's about how he plays and what he would bring to a far better team and squad, would also settle very quickly knowing the club and having already coached here etc. Far less risky than taking a punt on someone from a foreign league etc. IMO.

It was right for Poch to go when he did. He’d had enough and the team hadn’t won away from home for over a year.

Appointing Mourinho was the wrong move, then not sacking him when Tuchel became available was idiotic. Then that was compounded by sacking him and not having a replacement ready. Nuno was the wrong man brought in when we completely fucked everything up.

I think the only way back is to bring Poch back. Most of the players have gone. But he’s got to want to come back and we have to be proactive about is should he leave PSG (which isn’t guaranteed) before Man U get him.

Poch had squad of Rose, Walker, Lloris, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Wanyama, Dembele, Eriksen, Alli, Son, Kane.

And he won nothing with them.

With the current bunch he would have seen us finish in 14th position by now, I have little doubt in that.

Whoever we bring in as a manager at that point would save us, that has to be said as well.
We need long term planning and total overhaul of our scouting department. Not a single employee there should keep his/her job. Even the fucking carpets that were witnesses for decisions like paying 43 mil for weak as fuck defender like Sanchez or paying 63 mil for fat fuck who even I knew before signing was lazy have to be torn out and burned.

If we bring in Conte, but he would have to work with Winks, Alli, Doherty, Sanchez etc and will be supported with purchases like Lo Celso, Clarke, we would not finish higher than like on 6th or 7th place.

Rose, Dele and Wanyama were really only ever great players under Poch, Eriksen, Dembele, Walker and Toby all hit by far their highest heights under him.

Whether it was managerial brilliance or just a twist of fate, Poch raised the level of that squad beyond their real underlying quality.

That’s a very rare thing in the modern game. And that’s what it would take to meaningfully compete with the top of the PL the way we operate.

He 100% never said this. Post truth world where rumours are perpetually repeated. If Levy Lewis pay Brighton the compensation and offer him a massive bump total control and a 100m budget he'd walk on his hands from the Amex. I've bolded the bits why it won't happen
Of course he would have taken it, but he would have wanted to be in the top 2 or 3 candidates but Levy had no clue what he wanted if he approached Potter in May with an actual plan we would have got him but Levy is clueless.

I can tell you were a staunch Poch out in November 2019 and probably wanted to appoint Mourinho. Poch did need a break but I can assure you we would have performed better this season and last season with Poch. The fact is at the moment we are clueless and Nuno was a very poor choice for the role he was on no fans list of managers that we wanted.

Hypothetical hindsight is my favourite tbh.

Redknapp was a very different stage of the project in a different PL.

We did catch lightning in a bottle with Poch. A feat that will be nearly impossible to repeat, I anticipate.
To an extent but they both took on a rabble, playing boring football, where the fans were turning on pretty much every player and transformed us within 12 months. Its difficult but not impossible. But i do agree there is a bigger issue and if we could get of 1 person at this club anytime soon my choice would be Levy.

Parker isn’t leaving Bournemouth mid-season when they’re flying at the top of the championship and unbeaten.

Unless you mean in the summer .. in which case I agree.
Fuck me, how could we dream of prising away a manager from the mighty Bournemouth??? It would be unheard of!

:mourshock:

Jesus, this is really what that little weasel Levy has done to the perception of this club with his series of disastrous decisions. Got our own fans believing we couldn't take the manager off of a Championship club if we wanted to...

This is what I'm considering here though. With a chairman who would go and offer Parker big money and the freedom of a large transfer budget, I'm sure we could get him. But we all know that won't happen. With our current situation and the way we're run I don't see Parker walking away from Bournemouth even though we're a far, far bigger team.
