Is he? We've signed one Mendes client under Paratici, and that is Nuno.

What data backs up that Paratici is a Mendes stooge?
Mourinho was a Gestifute client. He leaves and Paratici, who is reported to be close to Mendes is appointed. Fonseca is a past Gestifute client. Gattuso is a current Gesifute client. Nuno is anotherclient of Mendes agency. The language "stooge" is not mine. I would just say even prior to Paratici being appointed that Mendes appears to have considerable influence with the organization. The chaotic search for a manager, which seemed to always come back to Mendes clients to the exclusion of others, suggests that might be the case. Teams increasingly do align themselves to certain agencies so there's nothing radical about that. But I think aligning with Mendes will probably not be productive in the long run as the managers his firm represents seem better suited to Serie A football.

There's a perception that they have a prior "working relationship" e.g.: Ronaldo.

Dudski Mendes is actually Paola Fonseca's agent.

Mendes is one of the most powerful agents in football, and Portugal (and by proxy, Brazil) is a pipeline(s) to talent.
The pipeline has given us Gedson Fernandez, Matt Doherty, and Carlos Vinicius along with Mourinho.

Mendes' client list speaks for itself.

It's easy putting on the Captain Hindsight cape.... Gedson and Vinicius were low commitment and worth a punt. Gedson's back at Benfica and Vinicius is at PSV. It'll be interesting to see how they do over their respective seasons.

Doherty never made any sense to me, (nor did Højbjerg -- another time and thread) but some on this forum thought he would clearly be better than our other fullback options at the time... a 28/29 year-old, with only 2 seasons of top-flight football on his CV, and that as a RWB in a 3-4-3/3-5-2 system...

But, Doherty is a GestiFute client, so perhaps there was some quid pro quo/pay to play/grease the wheel/what-have-you involved?

I'm not sure what Nuno out would really achieve. Its clear that the issues at the club run deeper than the head coach.

Nuno was dealt a tough deck of cards. Ndombele refusing to play and Kane wanting to leave. Clearly these should be our 2 most important players in the system we play. It seems that Ndombele may have turned a corner, but Kane has well and truly checked out.

Our recruitment policy has left our coach with a disjointed squad; and changing the coach will not fix this.

1. No creative midfielder
2. Where does GLC play?
3. With Toby gone, nobody in our defensive can play a consistent accurate long ball
4. No backup center forward
5. None of our DMs can play forward passes consistently (PEH/Skipp/Winks)

So, we can't play long balls; and we can't play possession football out from the back. We are stuck passing it sideways in midfield, or punting it down the flanks for our wingers to chase dead balls.

I've been moaning about it since he got here. Why hasn't the club told him to shave it off?

I don't think players will be motivated by anybody that looks like a vagrant. He looks like a fucking bum, it's no wonder the players don't seem to have any interest in him.

:nunoteeth:
Are you telling me that a 4-2-3-piss-yourself-taking-a-nap-in-the-bookie's-doorway formation doesn't inspire Total Football?
:sonhmm:

First time in a few years that I couldn't be bothered watching us play.

Just found a stream for the second half and discovered we didn't have a shot on target in the first.

Proud of my decision.

It’s Burnley, it’s the League Cup, I know, but this is yet another game in which the opponents have created absolutely nothing.

I don’t think Nuno is our savior or even necessarily the man for our fraught current moment, and he certainly hasn’t got a molecule of “Spurs DNA”, but he’s not some hack either.

I’ve no idea what we’d be accomplishing by sacking him.

That's what some reports about the Doherty signing suggest. In fairness, many people thought Tottenham was getting the better of the deal when it went through. You make the point well that his success was specific to a different formation than what Spurs play. That's probably a lot of the problem.
