Come back Christian Gross, all is forgiven
Curious as to whether people prefer the old or new stadium.

As impressive as the architecture of the new stadium is, I preferred old WHL - better atmosphere, more character, and was actually a football stadium.

Discuss.

All my best memories were in WHL or whilst we were still playing there. I don't associate it with any owners either, just Tottenham Hotspur FC.

The new stadium right now just makes me think of Levy every time I see it and I can't separate it from the disparity between the stadium and the quality of the squads that have been trotted out in it.

Tricky.

I loved old WHL, but new WHL has given me the opportunity to have a season ticket. Would I have had that in a 36,000 seater?

As for atmosphere, it's linked to success. Some of Conte era matches are as good as any I've experienced. The three derbies where we smashed Goons, Chavs and Spammers are what the atmosphere could be at the stadium. Also if we're remembering WHL at its most recent in our minds, that's during the peak of the Poch era, unbeaten at home all season.

Also, British football atmospheres just aren't what they were anyway for any club. No point putting that on the stadium.

It’s actually about the same for me. I used to be row 6 west lower about level with the penalty area at the south end. I used to love it the linesman could hear me giving him abuse, and players could hear you calling them out. I once called kranjcar something and he immediately kicked a player and got himself booked as he was pissed off. Now I’m older I’m not proud of that but you could effect games. Plus you were so close to players like Lennon.

I like standing up in the south stand (I’m row 22) and the stadium facilities are obviously better but something just feels off. It’s not even the atmosphere, as that could be shot at times in the old ground and over the decades I’d seen plenty of terrible performances there. Maybe now it just feels so much more manufactured now and you get fans wanting to sing in the bars but say nothing in the ground because they can’t video themselves doing it the same.

Football nowadays is just shitter or I could just be getting old and bored of it all. But in the old stadium you felt closer to the game, you could walk past Valentino’s and into the player car park past the cars. I met Sandro and Ledders and got photos with them. I saw Bale, Berbatov, modders and Kane close up. Now I’m just one of 60,000 shitmunchers like the rest of you.

I’ll go old stadium.

I put the old, for the memories as much as anything. I get very nostalgic about the days standing at the front of the Shelf, best view in the house, and only actual supporters in the ground.
Yes, the current stadium is a great piece of modern architecture and a lot of thought has gone into its structure, but what's most important is what happens on that green rectangle in the middle of it - don't think that's the case. It's more of an events and experiences arena (which is fine, if the profits are used to make the team better).

Yep, definitely miss the shelf, mercy Dalton peanuts and reading the program for an hour.

The last season at WHL was the most enjoyable without going back as far as the 80s. Outstanding home record and a team that could deal with going 1 down wherever. Whether it would have lasted if we stayed there another year, who knows? Wasn’t perfect but boy was it fun.

WHL for the experience, atmosphere and feels, for certain, but I recognise the need for the bigger stadium if we’re going to want to stay competitive. As some have said, whether this has happened under ownership is another discussion, and it’s not just about spending the revenue on players but the right ones and the ones we need.

WHL.

It's where 95% of my Spurs memories are.

The new stadium is obviously an amazing place to watch NFL, Taylor Swift and Guns and Roses, go abseiling or go karting or have a Michelin starred meal but the 'match day experience ' isn't even close to being the same level.
