Keeping possess of the ball takes the pressure off everyone. We can blame our utterly terrible centre halfs but possession means they don’t have to defend. Midfield not keeping the ball well enough and the front three couldn’t hold up a bank with a bazooka. This is where we miss Deki. He takes it in and keeps it. Yes sometimes it slows it down but he lets us build the momentum and right now the front 3 are anonymous. Get Veliz,Donley and Gil on and at the bare minimum the energy levels will go up.
Bournemouth have done their tank in and don’t have much more so any increase in the tempo will see us win the game.
I don’t think we will see a change but I hope there is.
We will win this 2-0

In the last 15 mins we didn't have control of the ball in their half at any point really. Players trying to run the ball forward and just running into Bournemouth players for an easy turnover.

Second half we need to be playing more triangles to beat their press and wait for chances to break forward.

You need to have that in your locker though. I've seen some of the best sides in the world drop into a low block to protect a lead. Can't just keep playing kamikaze football with this many injuries, that's not brave its fucking stupid

He went to a back 3 against Luton which worked very well and took back control of that game when we were a man down. I don't think he'll do it for a full half - and not with Dier at the the centre of the back 3.

Maybe he should but I think he's still not in pragamtic mode with this squad. Not until he has two more windows to make his own squad

We can muddle through our bimbo attacking, but all the players know we've got no knickers on at the back back; and it's definitely affecting them.

I think whether it's a tactical flaw or otherwise what the last 2 games have shown me is there is a real lack of fluid attacking play. I've watched Bournemouth and Brighton give options to the player on the ball,make intelligent little runs, create gaping spaces in our defense and I don't see any of that in our forward play. It's just all a bit too gung ho then when the opposition is in position we have fuck all flair to make something happen.

Context needed. We looked the real deal attacking before the injuries and suspensions. Diffucult playing flowing, attacking football when you have to change front 4 (and mf's) from game to game

But tweak something? Swap Rich and son? Tell FBs to stay wide. We allow far too much space on the wings especially with BJ and Son providing f all in defending!

Ange needs to be brave and change things up sooner if we dont improve. Don't wait until they score.

I would be looking at PEH for GLC and Veliz on for Son/Richy initially.

Gil on for Johnson if he doesn't improve.

It’s Kulu’s ball retention that has relieved pressure since he moved to midfield. lo Celso can’t do that and has given away a ton of passes, Skipp has been a traffic cone, and Bentancur keeps hitting these low percentage long passes that don’t connect. It’s the midfield’s inability to retain and pass the ball.

It’s a combination. Bentancur has few other options and has hit some good passes at least. The other 2 haven’t done much positive.

Johnsonn Kulusevski and Richarlison is what happens when u overspend on B level players because the A level players are just that bit more expensive but the difference in quality is immense.

Donley might get a longer cameo later, Lo Celso rarely plays a full 90 and Bentancur might not be able to play a full 90 yet after his injury. Last full 90 Lo Celso played for us was in October 2021...
