There would have been an outcry if we had gone for Emery as he comes from the Darkside?
And I don't mean Transylvania!

He rebuilt his reputation massively after Woolwich and let’s be honest he didn’t do badly there in reality but for some reason he was treated like a meme there and wasn’t given time.

Also goes to show how good Woolwich’s manager selection has been. Hired Emery and then Arteta. In the same time period we’ve hired people like Ange and Frank.

Sorry but they need to shake the Europa league up again. Bring back CL teams dropping in to it. It’s far too weak atm.

The conference is just far too easy for whatever decent English side make it too. It’s a guaranteed run to a final.. have EL teams drop in to it.
OR, revamp the Champions League BACK to the European Cup format... JUST have the Champions from Each Country, (not next season, obviously!) and have the clubs 2nd-6th participate in a Europa League format... Y'know, how the UEFA CUP used to be!! No need for anyone to drop down from anywhere, as the teams that make up the Europa league already would've been CL teams...

It reinstates the uniqueness /elite status of the European Cup, and keeps the integrity and quality of the Europa League in tact!

I don't see why it's so hard to work that out?

We got to the CL final in 2019 and finished in the top 4 a few seasons back. You're furiously rubbing yourself over a club that goes window to window scraping by financially.

People like you will bash the club relentlessly for "embarrasingly" not winning a trophy and seeing top 4 as a success, and then simultaneously bash it for winning one and not finishing in the top 4. No doubt you'd be the same kind of person that would berate the club for not giving "full control" to a sporting director, and will also use the result of that as a noose.

The absolute matter of fact here is that we've never been within a million miles of relegation, even with absolute amateur managers like Sherwood and Mason in charge, with much worse talent at their disposal, and before we had a harry kane and were struggling with the likes of Soldado and Paulinho, until this recent Postecoglou era that people weirdly worship.
Where we are now is a consequence of shit management from ENIC, Levy and the board from 2018. I'm not willing to credit them for the good work they did when that was almost a decade ago their most relevant body of work has us starting back-to-back 17th place finishes at best and Championship football at worst. This has been a long time cooking and had we removed Kane and Son (Who were also a product to pre-2018 Spurs) earlier than we did we would have been in relegation battles for most of the 2020s because the recruitment has been that shit in that time.

You can't get away with being as shit at board and chairman level as we have been for the last 8 years. There are no Steve Bruces or Mark Hughes to farm points off, the majority of clubs in the league have been better run than us for years.

Fair play to Villa, I don't think they've been "scraping by financially", I think they've been efficiently maximising the PSR room they've got, they hired a great manager and backed him to the best of their ability. I'd kill to be watching a cohesive team with exciting players finishing in the top 6, playing great footy. That's what we used to be. When's the last time we've been enjoyable to watch? Even with the cup wins and the time we finished top 4 under Conte (massive overachievement with the team he had btw, that was a shocking side outside of Kane and Son) we haven't looked a decent, cohesive team since the first half of the 2018/19 season.

You're either in denial or you've been in a coma for a while.

About what exactly?

Ironic since you're the one banging on about how we were good... 10 years ago!
2019 we got to a CL final. It wasn't 10 years ago.

In both Mourinho and Conte's first seasons we were excellent. We had a season where Son hit 23 goals. We won a UEFA Cup 12 months ago. It's in your avatar ffs.

You seem to hate the club more than Woolwich fans

It was amazing getting to the Champions League final the way we did but let's not try to pretend the team hadn't been let disintegrate prior to that. The fact that we were starting games with a midfield of Winks and Sissoko was fucking horrific.

As for Mourinhos first season what the fuck were you watching? Both of his seasons were brutal watches. When Conte came in that was great for the second half of the season, I was genuinely optimistic only for us to piss it up the wall that Summer. Winning the UEFA Cup was great, but again, like the Champions League final it was a "moment", none of these seasons were a consistently great watch from start to finish where it felt like we're moving in the right direction.

If anyone hates the club more than Woolwich fans here I'd say it's you. You seem pretty content with our decline over the last 8 years. Pretty happy watching us getting whooped every weekend, recruiting poorly, playing shit footy.

That weakness is because Europe is very weak. All the leagues below the top 3 are basically shit. Even Atletico Madrid over two legs where not great, got passed us cos of their dodgy pitch and Kinsky’s errors from it, far weaker than most prem sides we have faced this season.

I don’t agree with teams dropping down in such a manner as that is a loser element. The European Cup/UEFA Cup/Cup Winners Cup was a more exciting set up. The CL just expanded to much, should have been for the very top few clubs, they might as well just put everyone in the CL now. I think they need a full rethink and start from scratch.

Scottish FA Cup final today - probably an easy Celtic win

EFL Championship- Cheering for Hull here

DFB-Pokal final - I’d love to see Stuttgart win that one today but Bayern most likely take it.

So they gonna give Hearts their title back then?
What a fucking mess that all is...

Who apparently will take LEGAL action if they DON'T win...

Again, what a fucking mess the end of this season has been...
At all ends of the Table, in all corners of the country!

Spying, cheating, var, corruption, money money money....

Tells you where we are right now!

Honestly football is on its last legs...

I think Arse winning the League and the U.S.A World cup might just about finish it off!!

On the bolded bit, to be fair, the first games under Mourinho were quite good. It was after WH came back from 2 goals down that we then started playing ultra conservative Football, and it all went Pete Tong from there.
