If this goes through they should get top 4 next season.
Suspicious Kenan Thompson GIF

No midweek games plus adding Mbeumo and Cunha ,yes.

Those 2 players scored 35 league goals this season.

Their win rate in the PL under Amorim is 29%. That's a huge leap to top 4 form with the current strength of the teams fighting for it. Liverpool, City and Woolwich are locks - it's one place available.

They look to be losing Fernandes to pay for a lot of this. Cunha and Mbuemo might have been that productive for Wolves and Brentford but let's see if that changes when they're not the fulcrum of the side and on all the set pieces. They're good signings though.

Chelsea got 4th with 64 goals scored.

Cunha and Mbeumo get Utd to 70 goals next season. I'm expecting them to do a lot better with only 1 game a week as well so they should also improve defensively.

That's enough for top 4.

I remember people were saying that the final loss was the death of Utd as a big club and they lost their pull.

If this goes through they should get top 4 next season.

Go away.

Mbuemo is good but he ain't brilliant. He is hardly a sign of United's pull.

I will say however that we need to show some serious intent and in not doing we definitely run the risk of looking complacent and arrogant.

They signed Cristiano Ronaldo and became worse.

Anyone who thinks signing a winger from Brentford is the missing piece is ignoring their striker, defenders, goalkeeper and, well, CM options before you get onto depth.

Let's not forget that an excellent Eriksen signed for united after being excellent at Brentford and mostly disappeared (to my observations)

Agree mate.

I am more concerned about us,because all the club seems to do is go around in ever decreasing circles.

It's getting harder to act with a relatively circumspect view that's for sure.

We seem constantly stricken by indecision.

TBF people would complain if we signed players this week anyway - they'd see it as a sign we're backing Ange, and if we then sacked Ange after signing someone they'd say we were incompetent.

It is quite prudent to see where the dust lays, player/transfer wise, after this inaugural "club world cup" is over. See who the manager is going to be, who the board are going to be, if anyone is going to buy Richarlison etc.

Points well made.

This is operating under the assumption that everything clicks perfectly and the squad magically starts performing.

United bought two promising forwards in Zirkzee and Hojlund who've both looked utter shite. They're likely losing their best player and only genuinely creative midfielder in Bruno. Their squad is genuinely awful, which is quite a feat given the money they pump into it.

They won't be challenging top 4 for years to come. The club is broken.

You're comparing 2 players that are prem proven to 2 players from serie A and weren't exactly scoring that many goals there either.

Lol. Prime Mo Salah wouldn't improve United.

The issues aren't with the quality of the players - it's with the entire club setup and the attitude. They have a bunch of young players who think because they play for Man United, they are something special. They aren't willing to put the work in to earn that respect. From what I hear, they have academy kids promoted into the main squad and their agents are demanding 100k+ a week.

I'm making a point that the squad and setup sucks, and throwing two good players in there doesn't automatically equal goals and success.

Cunha and Mbuemo clearly have bags of talent. I won't begrudge them a payday, but for both to go to United in the prime of their careers seems like an awful waste.
