At the risk of echoing Souness i just want a DM who doesn't think all that's involved is sitting in front of the back 4 passing it 10 yards backwards and sideways.
Anybody we put in there seems to think that's all that's needed. Winks stole a living for 4 years doing it, hopefully PEH doesn't go the same way.
I don’t get why people like Souness are saying that. PEH played like a mentalist today running all over the place and going up front instead of holding his position. If he had just stayed in front of the CBs today maybe we would have had a chance. He was behind the play on virtually every Woolwich attack.
The second goal came directly from him going mental, losing a duel on the edge of the Woolwich box with a great chasm for Woolwich to waltz through where our DM was supposed to be. First goal he is behind the play and jogging back when he had time to rush into the box to defend. I don’t know what the fuck he was doing. Without Skipp he was the one who should have played with discipline but he wa s just messing around chasing balls all over the pitch despite not winning a tackle all game.
ummm you get why we were so shit and exposed was because Hojbjerg didn't sit infront of the back 4 right? At the risk of echoing Souness i just want a DM who doesn't think all that's involved is sitting in front of the back 4 passing it 10 yards backwards and sideways.

Umm well yeh the point was more about the style of DM that we have seen in modern football but it's gone over your head so forget it.ummm you get why we were so shit and exposed was because Hojbjerg didn't sit infront of the back 4 right?
But the way he flails his arms about is simply majesticalWhat he did today was really poor
Shouldn't have been on the edge of the Woolwich box for one of the goals. And for the other he's just jogging.
That's not passion. That's just lazy and failure to play your position.
Very dissapointed. I think he needs to do much much better at CDM because I don't really get what he does if he's the CM.

I still rate PEH, but he is starting to look tired. Hasn't had a break from football in however long though.
Sonny goes through this once in a while, and with how PEH has played for us the last year I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt today. Also, because the entire squad was shite
Neither Skipp nor PEH is good enough to be the lone ball winner in a midfield trio - they need the other two CMs to be hardworking ball winners as well. The best system for either player is a dual pivot. But even as a lone DM, PEH is still currently far better than Skipp.This.
You've saved me writing out all of this. Cheers! You have no idea how many times he gets caught ahead of the play. He might as well not be on the pitch half the time, it's so easy to bypass him.
As the middle of the 3 he needed to be sensible and disciplined. Not hunt the ball because all it takes is one turn or pass round the corner and you can get at the back 4.
It's just naivety from a player who people think should be our captain. Unbelievable. Skipp needs to play the anchor role. He knows how to and has more maturity than Hojbjerg.
People are starting to see through him.
I did a massive analysis of his performance against Palace and had a dig at him. He was our worst player that day.
But his performance against Rennes a couple of days later was good. He gives me flat track bully vibes. He can put in good performances but gets totally outclassed against half decent players.
I'm thinking we go to 4231 and use Skipp and GLC as the 2. Just tell them to put the tackles in, track players, steady disciplined in front of the back 4 and pass the ball forward quickly.
I liked what Souness said today about being competitive in midfield and how Alli should have been getting stuck in instead of hanging around on the wing waiting for someone to pass him the ball.At the risk of echoing Souness i just want a DM who doesn't think all that's involved is sitting in front of the back 4 passing it 10 yards backwards and sideways.
