Ex-Spurs Player Pierre-Emile Højbjerg

You can blame plenty, but by far the biggest offense is the player standing with his head down like a spoilt 4 year old rather than concentrate on,oh I guess, actually playing football.

"To present ourselves like this, yeah, it's unacceptable"

Self description I presume.
This.

Thank you for taking the time show the screen capture and explain.

I couldn't be bothered with arguing about it. I'm glad I'm not the only one calling him out.

He misplaced 6 passes out of 53, none of them long (4/4), completed 1 cross and had 2 key passes, one of which was for the chance Lucas had that Son scored the opener from the rebound with. The only 3 players that had better accuracy were Skipp, Son and Romero.

Shocking is the amount of posters that don't have a clue what they're talking about.
Pot, kettle

I'm not saying he won't be moved if Conte brings in Kessie or Brozovic, but I dont understand how some of you say he's not any good. Do you even watch the games? Rarely makes mistakes, always works hard, and is willing to do the dirty work.
He’s average at best - certainly not Top 4 material. Nothing against the bloke but not a shade on prime Demebele who cost the same

Couldn't agree more, the amount of people here who seemingly have no fucking idea when it comes to midfielders specifically is crazy. This guy has been our best and most reliable CM for 2 years and yet people here act like he's some Championship clogger. Mental.
We are allowed to say he didnt play well yes? He gave away some sloppy passes last night. Maybe because there was a cluster in a short space of time in the second half that made it look worse but he was poor also against man ure. Could be the toll of the euros affecting him now but his levels have dropped

Yeah no problem there, he was a bit sloppy at times but overall wasn't anywhere near our worst performer yet still gets people targeting him regularly. Just seems strange to me for a guy who is nowhere near our list of problem players.

He kind of is near the list of problem players though, because our central midfield is a problem area for the team. We saw it last season and we've seen it this season.

Some posters (me included) are pointing this out to go against this "future captain" nonsense that is talked about because he's a bit shouty and does nice interviews. If Spurs are going to achieve anything, then Hojbjerg is a future squad player unless Conte finds something that we haven't seen so far.

He might be a player who looks much better with a better midfield partner. But in my opinion, he's limited in his athleticism and his technical ability. In short, pretty average all round.

That's fair, he isn't an elite level CM granted. His athleticism and technique aren't top level as you say, but being objective his defensive contributions are actually elite level for a Premier League CM. Blocks & Tackles outside of players like Kante and a few in that bracket there aren't many who do it better.

His assists and goals in the last few months have shown that he is capable at this level of contributing going forward as well, so you can't write him off as a non-impactful player in attack either.

As you say, his partner will be crucial to get the best out of our midfield. If he was next to a Lo Celso or NDombele playing at their peak level then it would be a very capable partnership, but unfortunately we rarely see those players showing their best for 90mins. Skipp is a very talented player, but he is in a very similar mould to Hojbjerg and therefore their combined limited skills are exacerbated because they do the same things well and the same things not so well.

I think that's a fair point. It's why I would give Hojbjerg, along with almost all of our players, the benefit of the doubt whilst Conte works to get everyone playing at their maximum. And that might include signing a couple of key players who unlock the potential of others eg. a Carrick type in midfield could possibly see the best of Hojbjerg and Ndombele. Same with signing another defender, may enable us to see the best of Romero.

All that being said, I'd like Hojbjerg to live up to the hype that some people give him. Or even just make sure he lives up to his own standards that he sets in his interviews. No head down, jogging back that we have seen at times this season (Woolwich and Man Utd games spring to mind). Though I'm pretty sure Conte will fix that.

He has been poor this season compared to last where he would win the ball back fairly often. This season he has disappeared in games. Against VA I posted on the match his disappeared for large chinks of the game. Poor skipp was having to cover the whole of the CM. PEH needs to boss the CM demand the ball and be told his limitations ie don’t go to far forward as he doesn’t have the legs to get back.
PS example of his laziness this season check the 2nd goal v manure where he plays a shit pass to skipp who loses it. PEH I think throws his arms in the air then just stands there for a few seconds. He then decided to run back but is well behind the action.

He was equally woeful in the second half of last season. I think the arm throwing is more a general frustration of Nuno and the situation, what’s more concerning is his lack of bottle to make forward passes in tough games and the fact he can’t get near good players. Really hope he’s bombed out today

He is what he is. Has been our best/most consistent midfielder in the last two years but the bar is very low as some have said.

Now we are looking to move up a gear and get back to competing at football's top table he will be left behind, at least as a starter.
