Ex-Spurs Player Pierre-Emile Højbjerg

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

"It is fantastic to be able to get a coach with this quality," Hojbjerg said. "It is fantastic that the coach wanted to help the team and fantastic that the club is putting the players in a good situation.

"He is well organised, intense, demanding, enjoyable, he has a view on how we can improve different areas. I think it's very interesting, I think it's very accurate, precise. There's a lot of good things to come as a player that is something motivating to be a part of."

He gets it, he is one of those players who any manager would love in their team, he may not have the ability of Ndombele but his mentality is 2nd to none. Conte is going to love Hojbjerg, just like he loved Matic for Chelsea and Marchisio for Juve because they were first and formost professionals and hard workers/generals and their influence rubbed off on the rest of the squad and those who embrace the coach's philosophy will go up levels in ability.

So whatever wishful thinking people want to come up with and are hoping that he gets dropped from the team, it's more than likely that he will hold down a first team place and we will be much better off for it.

On Thursday I noticed him stropping a lot, throwing his hands around, misplacing passes and just watching as people ran past him from HIS mistake. Like, mate, come on...

The only way he is a negative for the team is if he is viewed as one our of core players that is undroppable and/or played in a role that he can't handle.

If he is the 3rd/4th best MFer we have, swapped with Skipp depending on form and we are looking to upgrade him then we are good. If he is played in the deep lying role that Pirlo, Brozovic, Fabergas has played for Conte in the past then we are in trouble.

PEH has been elevated too highly by many of our fanbase and over played by Jose. Hopefully, now we can get in the depth in MF so PEH can be used properly. He is not close to an elite level player but he isn't complete crap either. He is an ok MFer with big limitations that can help us if used right.

'I've said it before, I know I'm not the most talented player my teammates will come across, but my will to sacrifice for the team and the objectives we have as a team is 100% there.'

How can you not love the guy.

Not sure why he's getting slated in the matchday thread. He played well in that 2nd half. Some good interceptions and tackles.

He missed making multiple basic 5 yard passes to wide open players. He was terrible today but gets a pass because people love his "effort" and ability to blame others for his fuck ups.
