I want the DoF even more than a manager. Levy's got to be taken out of the process of football-related decision making. I think he's done a lot for this club, and he's a sharp business mind, but he is not someone with the expertise to be making decisions about managers and players. You cannot start a process with one set of criteria, drop them at a hat for a guy who completely doesn't suit them, and then suddenly turn around and pretend it didn't happen. Consistent winning organizations have plans, and stick to them.

Also, the fact that he would drop everything for Conte when it was clear he didn't suit the situation we're in is highly troubling. Almost as troubling is the idea that Conte jumped at the chance of Spurs without doing any research on the club until almost the point he signed the deal. Both guys needed to get their shit together a lot more.

Late appointment gives new manager less time = slow start to season. Its like Groundhog Day.

Every single season. I swear levy does it on purpose to save money. Signs players really late to save a few thousand in wages, so he does it as late as possible. Exactly the same with the managerial situation. I just wish we had a chairman that gave a fuck about on field matters rather than his fucking lady gaga concerts and NFL deals. He’s quick to get those sorted ain’t he, prick!!!!!

My only scepticism about the benefit of a DOF is that as long as Levy is at this club, he will have final say on expenditure, and therefore transfers.

Paratici could find the next mbappe for 50 million, but because its 50 million, levy will baulk at the cost.

Our selling is appalling. We all assume it’s because Levy doesn’t get his price and he lives for the deal but I don’t know the reason but whatever it is it is killing us.

I was looking at our bloated squad and thought we need to buy about 5-6 players and we should be good, 2 CB’s, 1 RB, 1 AM, 1CF and maybe another CM. Yet we need to sell around 8-12 players depending on any new managers view. It’s crazy we have such a selling problem.

Even if you get little for a sale the saving on wages adds up and can be put towards both the wages and the fee of future purchases. Our model lets us grow stagnant.

Selling is made difficult when the buying is badly done.

I am honestly surprised that we have not been linked more with Favre.

Our defence would still be leaky but we would play attacking football to our hearts' content.

Don’t disagree but it’s hard to buy when you don’t sell and free up space. Long as a player isn’t on stupid wages you can sell anyone at the right price, not sure what we are doing but our sales is the worst part of our operation, it’s so poorly run.
And the stupidest wages are typically those given to sign players who have run, or are running, their contracts down to secure a free transfer.

If those players prove to be injury-prone (Ramsey), or don't give a fuck (Willian), then the club's financial position is damaged and the rest of the squad are pissed off at this geezer who's paid massively more than them.

Even in Eriksen's case, the reason he couldn't even be loaned away from Inter during that long period when Conte wasn't playing him, was because he'd secured a bigger salary than Harry Kane and other clubs weren't prepared to pay it.

Having watched a bit of Dortmund over the years due to Pulisic and Reyna, they declined badly under Favre, despite having a lot of good players.
Having also watched a bit of Dortmund since I watch a lot of Bundesliga I respectfully disagree. Favre kept them where Dortmund "should" be in the league. Finishing 2nd and 4th in both his full seasons.

I could see the argument that they "declined" because Favre did not play as balls to the walls attacking football as Klopp, Tuchel and Bosz did. But he kept them competitive in the league and in the Champions league.

They had a big dip in form in his last season but that happens. A manager's life at a club tends to peter out. Just like it did for Poch with us.

Favre would be a okay appointment for us I think. We are not in a position to turn our noses up at him.

We've had a net spent of 50-100 million the past couple years. Any team genuinely vying for top 4 has that as a minimum for spend. That's entirely on Levy, not Conte.

For example, I heavily suspect Conte would ask for more money from the likes of United or Liverpool. They'd also give it to him.
